Greeting Greenies!

Welcome to my blog. I've been into the hobby since early 2012, when I first laid my eyes on my friends Orcs and Goblins. He didn't really have a thing for them, so quite soon his models became the foundation of my Waaagh!, and my affection for the Greenskins has been growing ever since (my friend moved onto Skaven and Dwarfs).

Most of my stuff is quite simple, with color schemes not being much different from what is considered as canon. You won't find too many conversions here, with the few exceptions being mostly head/arm/choppa swaps.

I hope you enjoy your stay, any comments and critique are more than welcome.

So, my first entry, my Orc Big Uns. Nothing fancy, I'm trying to keep things simple and stick to what the models look like on the box.
No highlights (will probably add some really mild highlights in the future), bases still require flocking. Also, 2 of the command group models (muso, standard) were among the first ones to be painted, so I'm also gonna have to give them some touch-ups someday.

Apologies for the blurry pictures, my only camera is my smartphone one...

Any C/C is more than welcome :D

My unit of 8 Trolls. Again, will have to flock the bases, work on a few details and highlight them a bit:

Welcome to the Army Blogs :)

I really like the look of you Orcs. They're quite well-painted, and I bet they look great on the gaming table. The Trolls are cool too, especially the last River Troll. Heh the vomit is delightfully gross too.

If you're not going to highlight much, you could try some washes or inks instead. I swear by them as a quick and easy way to add depth to areas of flat colours. I like using black or brown inks on armour and weapons (usually just painted into the cracks or where spikes join onto helmets etc). Inks are great for getting some definition between teeth too.

All things said, your units look great already :)

Thanks for your comments Sokk_Likk :)
About the Boyz, I did give them a wash, but I have recently realized that my wash wasn't thick enough - I used too much water (mixed with black). I've used my buddy's Nuln Oil on a few other models and really liked the way they turned out. Will have to get a pot myself :)
And yeah, I'm quite happy with the way they look on the gaming table. The time for details will come :)

Anyways, I have just finished my first box of Savage Orcs and the thicker wash I used did the trick IMO. Will post them shortly :)

BTW, do you varnish your models? Is it really worth it?

So, I have finally got my first box of Savages done. I guess they turned out OK and that's pretty much my best. I used Whaaagh! Flesh and Whaagh! Flesh mixed with Warboss Green for highlights. Since I don't really like pony tails an my Orcs, I shaved them off :)
As for the Warpaint, I tried to do some zig-zags on their bodies, but it really sucked, so I decided to go for the easiest option available, by simply limiting the Warpaint to their heads.

So, without further ado, there they are, with a Warboss in the corner:

I haven't varnished any of my models....yet.

It seems that the paint soaks into plastic models which makes them quite resilient to chips and dings, so I probably won't bother varnishing those. My plastic Goblins have taken quite a few knocks and falls, and they've survived unscathed so far. Although their many coats of paint and foamy case probably help alot.

Eventually I will varnish my metal models, as it seems the paint just sits on top of the metal and even a stray fingernail can sometimes nick the paint off. A good undercoat or two can help, but for piece of mind I'd like varnish on them as well.

But yeah, it would be worth varnishing your models if you don't want to keep touching them up between games :-s

Nice looking Savage Orcs, I quite like the stone weapons and the blue warpaint. I'm loving the shroomy shoes on the Shaman. Those Doomdivers are good score, they're quite hard to find these days!

Thanks, I guess it makes sense. I wasn't concerned about chipping though, more about the paint wearing out/being rubbed off over time. I've only been into the hobby for a bit over than a year, so don't really know what to expect.

Anyways, my today's Slugdrool with an extra piece of a River Troll nose:

Great work man, you can see the improvement on those savage orcs with the washes and highlighting.

Here's my A-Rock, painted 1.5 years ago. I'm quite happy with the way it looks, but the Howdah Crew surely need some work:

There's some good raw materials here. The savages are definitely your best work. Looking at your arachnarok (and its crew) a few simple washes will really improve the look of the models, with relatively little effort.
Keep going.

Thanks, that's what I'm planning to do. In fact, most of my "old" stuff requires washing/highlighting
