Food Labeling Changes

Most Americans, have no idea of what the “sell by” label’s on food really mean, but on Wednesday, the grocery industry took steps, to help clear up the confusion. They decided to adopt standardized, voluntary regulations and instead of using one of the 10 separate label’s currently being used, they will be encouraged, to use only two.

The two label’s are “Use By” and “Best if Used By” and manufacturers and retailers, have until July of 2018 to make the change. After that date, there is no guarantee the label’s will be adopted by everyone, because the standards are only voluntary,
