Now, as the title and the banner indicate, this is a written log run. I'm hoping that this is a great way for helping me stretch my writing muscles, breakaway from my comfort blanket of screenshot runs, and be a good productive distraction from my main run. Priority is less on this, of course, so please expect sporadic updates.
Credit goes to Argon for inspiring me to do this as a written log run as well. His runs are a hoot and three quarters to read, and I promise you'll change your mind about written log runs when you check them out. If you haven't, please check out his current one that he is doing with Master Bryss, another luminary of this community. In the same vein, I will do my darndest to make sure this is entertaining as hell to read.
Anyway, I blathered on long enough. Let's get this ship sailing, shall we?
- [+] Rules
- 1. You can only catch the first Bug-type you encounter in any route. I know... I'm shocked too!
1a. TOKEN CLAUSE - You will receive one token for every area that you don't encounter a Bug-type. You can use a maximum of one token per route and two tokens ONLY in Route 1.
1b. DUPES CLAUSE - Off. Because there's only a limited number of species I can use, and I'd rather have reserves. How else will I storm the League with my army of Ledyba?
1c. SHINY CLAUSE - Well, yes, but what are the odds of that though?
2. Nickname all the things! Going with Hawaiian names over here because I'm hella original.
3. If any of your 'mons faint, they're "dead" and can't be used anymore slash deported from the mainland.
4. Pokemon Refresh can be used... but only to a maximum of two hearts per Pokémon. After that, it's dunzo.
5. The run is won when you become the Champion. The run is lost when there's no usable Pokémon left. Good luck!

Let's do this thing. In terms of titling these parts, I'm gonna follow my good friend Jimcloud's example and say I'm just gonna name these whatever I feel like naming it. I feel like I've already scraped the barrel for all the good insect puns, so let's not get too antsy about it.
...Told you I scraped the barrel. :^)
Have I mentioned how I love how interactive the game openings have been since XY? Being talked to a sprite doesn't do too much for me, but Sycamore whisking me away on his accent (and other things...) or the wave of nostalgia with the original RS opening panning out to you in the truck helps the player immediately get immersed in the experience. And Sun and Moon honestly took the cake with Kukui (and other things...) patching you in through video call. Loving the clean interface. And the adorably adorable Rockruff definitely helps matters.
On a more irrelevant note, Discord video call when?
I'm going with Cliff for the Trainer profile, my protagonist from my main run. It just made sense to use him in this run. Think of him taking another field assignment to Alola to check out the new Bug-types they got over there. Or to take another vacation, which he (and I) desperately need. Sadly, no green hair, so let's go blonde. Cause blondes have more fun in death-defying adventures! So I have been told, at least.
Also, whew! That introduction scene. We're not even ten minutes in and something's already getting blown up. I'm not too sure why they decided to just out and reveal Aether Foundation being evil immediately. I know it was predictable as all hell, but at least let us find out how we find out they're evil, right?
Now, here's the thing. I'm going to skip talking about the entire part of the game up until the point where we can already trade. At this point, I think everyone knows what happens. (But if you are the few people that haven't played Sun and Moon yet, first, put down this run and buy the game already dammit you need to play this game.) But to me skipping the part, obviously in a Buglocke I won't be able to use any of the traditional starters (them being Rowlett, Litten, and Popplio), so I went ahead and bred myself a starter. And I think you have a good idea of what mine is. It's...
Nah, just kidding. Maybe next time, Pascal. Without further adew, time to meet my starter!
If the banner (or the pun) didn't spoil it for you, yes, I am in fact using a Dewpider as my starter! I traded myself an egg, which is why I fast forwarded to the Trainer School so I can trade the egg and get the Exp. Share to train her up. For those of you who want to know, I picked Popplio (which was bloody Modest... the one time I don't use it...), so that means Hau gets Litten and Kukui gets Rowlett.
Name: Alania ("like calm waters")
Nature: Sassy (+Sp. Def, - Speed)
Ability: Water Bubble
Moves: Bubble, Aurora Beam, Water Sport, Infestation
But yeah, I've loved the Dewpider line ever since the leaks came out, and I definitely wanted it to be the first thing I would start off with. She's Water-type, so Alania fits the type triangle thing. She'd be strong against Hau's Litten, yes, but Incineroar is still not a joke and poses a bigger threat to my team than a Decidueye will. Plus, Araquanid is a solid mon later on in the game.
And if you're wondering about the Aurora Beam, I bred her with it. I did ask someone if that was too OP, and they said no, so here we are!
So with our starter out of the way, it's time to turn on the Nuzlocke runs and power on!
...next time. I'll end it here, folks, since it's pretty late my time and I'm still getting into the groove of this written log thang. Let me know how I do; I definitely would appreciate it!
