Gah... guys, I had no idea this game had a 'problem' with vehicle parts.

Correct me if I'm wrong: You can only have 4 pit droids, and there are 6 vehicle parts. This means some parts will be forever in bad condition (read: back to the minimum performance) as they can never be repaired.

The trick is to only max 4 vehicle parts and leave 2 parts to the minimum (as the minimum performance can't get worse, even if you crash like a madman).

This true? Because I have now all parts maxed, but max speed is back to minimum and it won't fix itself... even after playing for a long time. :eh:

I think you are looking at it wrong. The number of droids you have only increases your efficiency to repair while you are not racing. They are not assigned to a specific section of your podracer.

On the other hand, you did use your method as a strategy! It also worked for you... kind of.

The real trick is to not take damage and not crash.

I have found that around the mid point of the game, there is a fine balace you have to manage between cost/benefit and risk/reward because the tracks and AI get harder, making mistakes easier to make!

I hope this helps.

Junkyard! The droids can make parts way better, then trade in, then sell.

In the end, you unlock Ben Q, max out his ride, then do time trials so your parts do not degrade.

Thanks guys. I'm still confused though, there's this one part which is the best, but it won't repair no matter how long I run and repair the podracer.

Let me quote from this guide:
wrote:Pit Droids maintain your pod parts (duh). Each pit droid can only maintain 1 part. So if you have 5 new parts and 4 pit droids (MAX, unless using a cheat) 1 part is going to get ruined (condition is brought down). So if you want to win you just want to get all 4 pit droids and choose 4 categories that you want to max out and only buy those parts. This is the key to winning.

ALSO: The least expensive part in each category never gets damaged!
It means my part is done. I need to restart the game, max out 4 parts only. When I'm done with the tournaments, I max out the remaining 2 parts, and play time attack mode.

Interesting!
I never thought of pit droids that way. I also never bought stuff from the Junkyard...

This is one reason that this game is so great, because everyone seems to have their own method! :yeah:

You can still buy new parts! If you can't afford them, head to the junkyard, buy good stuff in below average condition and then sell after the next race if the pit droids did their job.

Again, once you are maxed, ONLY play time trial so your parts do not degrade.

BTW, that guide is wrong. I always max out on pit droids and still have some bad luck with 2 parts getting toasted during a race. But more times than not, parts will increase in condition.
