... the N64's best time period? The following games were all released then:

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Turok 2: Seeds of Evil
F-Zero X
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron
Space Station Silicon Valley
Body Harvest
Buck Bumble
Top Gear Overdrive

The fall of '98 was also the time when Baldur's Gate and Half-life were released for PC, so I guess it was a good year all around.

The second half of the 90's were pretty good for games in general. RPGs were revived, FPS started appearing on consoles (and they were starting to not suck!) and we finally got that whole 3rd dimension thing down. Pretty much, while Clinton was president, games were awesome. When Bush took power, things started to become medicore. Coincidence?

Those were good days, especially after the N64's long period of having very few decent new releases.

In 98' I think the only games I owned for my n64 was Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Starfox 64 and Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time.

It was a pretty awesome year.

Wow. I've really only played two games on that list, Zelda and Body Harvest (and a few minutes into Space Station), so I don't know if I can agree to that. It would be hard for me to pick the N64's best year with my two favourite games, SSB and Perfect Dark, being released in 1999 and 2000, respectively.

I would say 1998 was one of the N64's best years all around...

I enjoyed all of the games listed, accept for Top Gear: Overdrive.

I remember the N64 still had a VERY bright future at this time as well, once we got into '99 and the next gen systems began to hit the N64 started to lose steam though. :-/ Luckily we still ended up with plenty of awesome games in '99 and 2000 though! B)

So true. I always loved those times when a bunch of great games were released within a few months of eachother. The great anticipation for one game was increased by the other games. It helped the time go by too when one game finally came out and you were playing it a lot.

Very true, I remember how expensive N64 games were so from '97 to '01 I spent pretty much all of my allowance on renting N64 games(I was to young for a job of course). Nothing like a getting out of school on a Friday afternoon, and heading down to rent a couple killer titles for the long weekend ahead. When Banjo Kazooie came out I rented the game six consecutive times to finally beat it, in the end it would have just been cheaper to buy the game!

I think 2000 was the best year for N64 games! The only two things that I can think of for 01 were CBFD and Mario Party 3 witch came out very late( especially for you PAL users out there!) Remeber now 2000 had Banjo-Tooie and Majora's Mask!
