About a month ago I hooked my PAL N64 to my uncles 40-45 inch HDTV TV via composite and I was actually pretty happy with the results.

There were very obvious flaws but it was better than what I was expecting which got me excited for trying out RGB with the XRGB Mini or UltraHDMI.

So I was wondering what is the absolute best huge TV (50-80 inch) or projector to get the absolute best deep color and smoothness from a NTSC N64 hooked up via RGB or HDMI?

I play my NTSC N64 on a Samsung 48" 4K TV, and that seems to look good. I don't really have much to compare it to, though...

At this year's Consumer Electronic Show (CES) Sony unveiled an 8k television that can achieve a mind-numbing 10,000 Nits of brightness! :o For reference, 500 Nits is closer to what most displays nowadays generally put out.

This is noteworthy because the biggest problem the N64 has on modern HDTV's is matching the brightness of CRT's. Perhaps Sony's new tech is the answer that us retro video gaming fans have been looking for?

I’m not sure I want to upscale anti-aliased 240p to 8k but the brightness is nice. ?

An N64 Mini, with progressive scan and HDMI support, would probably look nice on Sony's miraculous new Ultra HD TV.

Samsung's Q9S 8k TV may not be as bright as Sony's new model but it features artificial intelligence that actually learns how to handle low-res video.

Wow! :o
