I am not talking about those flat crt's before the lcd screens were introduced but the ones from the 80ties like this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrpU-wt8pEE

That commercial was fantastic.

Generally I think the Toshiba tubes were good kit. The Flat Square was pretty much the same thing as the Trinitron™ just Sony owned the branding for Trinitron™. The tech dates way before the 80's and 90's but really reached the pinnacle of development and affordability in the 90s and 2000's.

I have an early 2000's Trinitron, and I'd say you make some sacrifices in picture quality for style. The edges of the screen just aren't as clear as the center. This is true for ANY CRT, but for me, it's more noticeable on a flat tube. The tech got better at focusing the beams at the edges for flat tubes as time went on, but there's no cheating around the geometry. Planes aren't spheres. Math is math.

Hahaha, pretty much like a good old terminator or robocop movie right?

That sucks, I will keep looking for a good crt then, thanks for the information!
