The lei was very scratchy.
This was about the only thing Ariella could comprehend as she stood amongst the many Nemare students. It was a bunch of bright red, artificial flowers strung together and pulled around her neck, and they had bothered her to the point of insanity. Well, almost, anyways. She refused to take the silly thing off though, as then she'd be left in her tropical dress that she'd bought back at home and some regular brown sandals. There was also the giant hibiscus stuck in her hair, which she thought must've looked disastrous, as the pink flower clashed with her bright ginger strands, which she'd messily thrown up into a loose bun. A very loose bun, which had resulted in about half of her hair now hanging at the sides of her face.
The hall was very pretty, and Ariella admired the handiwork of the headmistresses yet again. She wouldn't have been surprised to find out there was some sort of secret comittee planning everything behind closed doors. It didn't really matter though, as every time this kind of shindig was arranged, it was always beautiful. Ariella twirled the lei around her finger, studying the room around her. Everyone else seemed rather invested in their conversations, and Ariella grinned. She considered finding someone to talk to, but quickly waved the idea away. Instead, she wandered over to the food table and gave the many offered choices a quick glance over. What to choose, what to choose...
The party itself had only begun a half hour or so ago, and Ariella had arrived about twenty minutes after. Her friends had, like they always did, abandoned her to go make fools of themselves on the dance floor. They were doing the conga line at the moment, and Ariella giggled. (Which she didn't do often.) Some of the girls were doing some interesting dance moves as they walked, and Ariella swore she saw Jasper a couple of times. She grabbed a cup of punch and carefully took a sip. It seemed no one had had the nerve to spike it, too many professors, she supposed, and it was too early anyway. Once finished, she stood for a few moments, until finally walking over to someone she knew more or less and striking up a conversation. No point in going to party if she wasn't going to socialize, right?
"Soooo... enjoying the party?" she inquired.
There had been a shocking amount of prep for this dance for Araceli. Getting ready had been easy. She did nothing special like she normally would for a dance, she hadn't even bothered with the spattering of makeup she normally did and she left her long, brown hair straight as it normally was She had tucked a pretty Hawaiian flower behind one ear though. The prep work had been in trying to find something to wear. It shouldn't have been hard, but Ara had been indecisive about it up until the day before the dance when she finally picked a nice purple wrap with flowers along the bottom and a pattern that sort of resembled rippling water, aside from the color that was. Getting ready was just a matter of brushing her hair, sticking the flower behind her ear, tying the wrap around her small frame and slipping on the purple flip flops to match her out an out the door she went.
She delighted in the dance once there and she danced around with a few girls in a horrible attempt to do the hula, which only resulting in the small group laughing at each other. But it was fun so she didn't really mind all that much. She was going to join in the conga line but she instead backed out promising her friends he would join in as soon as she went and got drink and they reluctantly let her go. She did grab a class of punch and then he wandered a little ways away from the refreshment table to drink it so she wasn't in the way and she sighed shaking her head. These dances were so much fun but they could be tiring at times. At that she tossed her empty cup away into a near by trashcan and took all of two steps towards the conga line when she was stopped by a familiar voice directed towards her.
'Soooo... enjoying the party?'
Ara's grey eyes lit up and she turned to the red haired Ariel reincarnate and she waved. "Hi Ariella! I am enjoying the party actually! It's a good theme. Very free spirited I think. And its beautiful like always. I don't know how they do it... How many people do you think they have planning these things?" She realized she had rambled a bit ans she stopped talking ant let her companion respond. She she watched the redhead in front of her, she couldn't help but move her hips to the bright music playing int he background. Really, where did they come up with all of this stuff?
