In the freshman dorms a certain blond was sitting on her bed, absent mindedly brushing her long blond hair. Though the Rapunzel reincarnation's just over six feet of hair wasn't tangled, she had spent nearly an hour just sitting there staring out her window brushing it. She have been talking to her friend Ara, who was a year older than her, and Ara kept bringing up Trevor. Always poking at her with words hinting at Kelly having a relationship with her. Initially Kelly had been rather oblivious, but after a week or so she caught on and started brushing off these things and changing the subject, not exactly opposed to the idea, just nervous about admitting it. Ara had given in and started getting more blunt shortly after and started offering advice to the younger girl about possibly talking to Trev, since it had become obvious to both girls that Kelly really liked Trev. But even after she agreed to talk to him she had been putting it off and putting it off.

Now it was a weekend, no classes to keep her busy, and the day before, Friday, Ara had prodded her into messaging Trev asking to meet him somewhere today. In a tower, away from prying eyes of course, Kells was already a tinge on edge, and rather nervous, since her had never had to do anything like this before and it was sort of intimidating. Kells chewed on her lower lip and looked at her clock. She needed to get ready. She had about forty-five minutes to get there to meet him, and while she was already dressed, she did have to spend a bit of time getting her hair up so it was out of the way. Luckily, she had lots of practice, and it only took her fifteen minutes to braid her hair into a bun and head out.

Raquel reached the tower a few minutes before the time they agreed to meet and she sat on the window sill to wait. It was agonizing. Because she wasn't even entirely sure what to say and she couldn't stop thinking about it. But Ara had assured her she was fully capable of talking to him and that it would go well for her. So she waited, humming to herself and trying not to stress herself out by thinking about what to say. She'd just... work on saying what she had to say when she started saying it.... That would work right? Just as long as she could actually say it without fumbling it all up that is.

Trev liked to think of himself as a ladies’ man, although even he would have to admit (under duress, probably) that his track record wasn’t exactly stellar. It was the kind of track record where getting slapped was practically a good thing. After all, in order to hit him, a girl would have to first acknowledge that he existed and then decide to take some time out of their lives to give him a piece of their mind. If a girl acknowledged him, then Trev considered that a win. There were so many that just sort of pretended that he didn’t exist, even when he was standing right there and trying to tell or show them something cool.

Kelly was different to all those other girls. To the absolute amazement of everyone Trev had somehow managed to con into being his friend, she did more than just acknowledge his existence. She actually listened to him! And sometimes, she came to talk to him, instead of his always being the instigator. Nobody else seemed to be able to figure out why, but obviously she was the only girl who could actually understand how awesome he was. Plus, she didn’t mind when he knocked stuff over or temporarily had to hide behind something as a student he had offended (accidentally or on purpose, although usually the former) went past.

Despite the bemused urging of his friends, though, Trev was reluctant to do anything about his burgeoning relationship with Kelly. Sure, they hung out a lot and had fun when they were together but... there was always this but hanging at the end of that sentence. What about all the other girls? Did Trev really want to tie himself down? His mind was always full of what-ifs and wild plans, and he didn’t know whether there was room amidst all that for a girlfriend. To which, of course, all of his friends told him he was being an idiot and to settled for the right here rather than the probably never ever, ever, ever, in a million years never.

Which made sense, sort of.

In response to a very odd text from Kelly, Trev made his way up to the top of one of the school’s towers. He whistled as he climbed the stairs, pausing often to stop and catch his breath as the amount of floors caught up with his unfit state of being. Whatever Kelly wanted to talk to him about, it had better be important if he had to haul himself up all these stairs to hear it! Why couldn’t they have met in the dining hall? Firstly, it was much more convenient, and secondly… there was food there!

After taking a moment to regain some of his breath, so that his huffing and puffing didn’t ruin his entrance, Trev stepped into the tower room. He smiled when he saw Kelly sitting on the windowsill; she looked really pretty like that, framed by the stone arch of the window. "Hey," he said, trying to act as though he hadn’t just climbed what felt like Mount Everest and was totally cool and fit enough to run up and down those stairs two more times if he had to. But, like, tomorrow. Because he was busy right now. Yep. "What’sh up?"

The school was so pretty from up here. Well it was pretty all the time in most places on campus, but this was different. Kelly didn't really come up to the towers all that often. It wasn't that she hated them, but it wasn't on her radar, despite being the whole Rapunzel reincarnation and what not. Besides her hair was long but it was most certainly not long enough to try and climb up or down a tower with. And it was hard enough to deal with sometimes being this long, she really didn't need it any longer. But back on topic. Not the enjoying the scenery from way up here, which is was she was doing of course, but the conversation that was looming just minutes away. She was terrified. She liked Trev, and he seemed to like her too, but what if he didn't like her like she liked him? What if she fumbled her words too much? What if she couldn't actually think up what to say before he got there!? She took a deep breath and calmed down. too many question and getting worked up weren't going to help. She just needed to try and keep it together. She could do this.

'Hey. What’sh up?'

And time was up. Too late to think of something now, so Miss Kelly was going to have to wing it. She turned her head with a bright smile already on her face. She was scared still, but the second she heard his voice the smile just appeared out of thin air. "Trevvy!" she cried out and she slid off the windowsill to give him a hug. "I'm really glad you came all the way up here. I know it's kinda far from the rest of the civil world we call this school, so you didn't have to, I really appreciate it," she said as she pulled away from the hug. And it was true. It was pure selfishness that made her ask him to meet here here despite all she knew about him and the whole lots of stairs thing. Because people were scary sometimes and something like this? Prying eyes would make this go way worse than how she feared it would. Normally she wasn't exactly a shy girl. But something like this appeared to bring out the shyest part of her. But back on topic. He asked what's up and she was going to answer that, because her previous comments certainly didn't.

Provided she didn't loose her nerve. No she was going to do it! This was a piece of cake! Noting at all to worry about. Except for a total and brutal turn down. Which she was pretty sure wouldn't happen. Even if Trev didn't like her too, he wouldn't be mean about it. At least she was pretty sure he wouldn't. It would be so unlike Trev to snap at her and be mean about it. And there she went getting stuck in her thoughts again. Luckily these thoughts went fast so time really hadn't passed outside of her mind. "I wanted to talk to you about something. It's pretty important. Or well sort of. To me it is anyway..."

She took a deep breath and closed her eyes steeling herself. No big deal. She had this in the bag. Now as mentally prepared as she was going to be, she opened her eyes and looked right at Trev as she let the words just come out. "Okay so... I wanted to talk to you about going out together to go do... I don't know whatever. We have so many options. We always do," she smiled at the thought of endless possibilities that they could plan, and quickly shook herself out knowing she had to fix that phrasing, just to make sure he didn't think she was asking him to just hang out, which she could easily ask him to do any time anywhere. "I mean like we hang out all the time. That's nothing new for the two of us, cause we do that all the time. So I really mean that..." She trailed off trying to think. "I... I don't want to just go do our normal stuff. I mean, I don't mind that, that's not it.... I just... I... I don't want to go out as in just hang out like we normally do. It's totally amazing and I love hanging out with you, don't get me wrong! But I want to go out with you instead. Like.... Yeah...."

She stood in front of him and was fully aware of the bright pink shade her cheeks had heated up to while she awkwardly rambled her botched attempt at asking him out on a real live date. And the realization that she was blushing only made the pink darken to a bright magenta color and she ducked her head sort of afraid to see his reaction. She had messed this up so badly in her head. But somehow her mouth started moving and small, hesitant words trickled out while her eyes found a spot on the floor to remain glued on, as if bare floor was suddenly really fascinating. "I-I... I mean.... Only if you want to. It's totally okay if you don't. I promise."
((omg sorry for the delay work and school steal all free time i swear >.< I hope Kell's totally adorable awkwardness makes up for it!))

"Trevvy! I'm really glad you came all the way up here. I know it's kinda far from the rest of the civil world we call this school, so you didn't have to, I really appreciate it."

The sophomore couldn’t help but smile when Kelly greeted him, her face lighting up with characteristic enthusiasm. He returned the hug, taking the opportunity to breathe in the gentle scent of her hair. Not being even nearly an expert on feminine hygiene products, he had no idea how she achieved it, whether through fragranced shampoo or other means. That didn’t stop him from enjoying it though. He didn’t normally get close enough to girls to get a whiff of their hair, but thanks to Kelly’s willingness to be close to him for extended periods of time, and even touch him without being forced, he was getting an accelerated education in such small pleasures. "That’sh all right," he said as reassuringly as he could, appreciating the fact that she had actually had the decency to apologise for dragging him all the way up here. It was amazing how a simple apology could defuse resentment before it even had a chance to exist. Kelly was really good at that.

"I wanted to talk to you about something. It's pretty important. Or well sort of. To me it is anyway... Okay so... I wanted to talk to you about going out together to go do... I don't know whatever. We have so many options. We always do. I mean like we hang out all the time. That's nothing new for the two of us, cause we do that all the time. So I really mean that... I... I don't want to just go do our normal stuff. I mean, I don't mind that, that's not it.... I just... I... I don't want to go out as in just hang out like we normally do. It's totally amazing and I love hanging out with you, don't get me wrong! But I want to go out with you instead. Like.... Yeah...."

Several times over the course of this monologue, Trev opened his mouth to contribute, and then – astonishingly to anyone who knew him or even thought they knew him – closed it again. Kelly seemed quite determined to get everything off her chest, and it just seemed better to let her speak until she had said no more. It was a realisation that had, unbeknownst to Trev, been reached by quite a few of his friends in the past. There was a difference, however; the sophomore was actually trying to pay attention to what Kelly was saying, which could not always (or even usually) be said by those subjected to Trev’s meanderings. It seemed important to her, which meant that it was probably not something that he could tune out in safe knowledge that it wasn’t going to come up in a test later. The more he listened, however, the more he felt the yawning pit of an uncertain future opening up before him.

"I-I... I mean.... Only if you want to. It's totally okay if you don't. I promise."

Trev hesitated.

"Do... are you… ashking me out… on a… date?" he asked carefully, like a man trying to lift the lid off a box without disturbing the family of spiders snoozing all around it. From the look on her face, even someone as generally clueless as he was could guess what the answer might be. Trev felt rather as though she’d tugged the rug out from under his feet. Whatever he might have been expecting on his way up the tower, it had certainly not been this. He’d never been in this situation before. (No surprise to anyone except him.) Who would have thought that sweet, obliging Kelly would be the one to pull what might rightly be called the ol’ switcheroo on him? He’d been put on the spot, and for once in his life his unstoppable gregarious nature had found itself quite without anything to say.

[ no worries <333 it only took me four months to reply -_- so we're a matching set, hahaha! ]

The deafening silence that followed her request and her stammered acceptance of his possible denial of said request ate at the little blonde's nerves. Why was he being so quiet!? He was never this quiet and it honestly frightened her, since she was so used to Trevor always having something to say. She squeezed her eyes closed and chewed on her lower lip, keeping her head ducked of course, just silently waiting for something to happen. For him to say something, anything, to break the silence that was so still she could hear her heart pounding in her ears. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, she heard his voice.

'Do... are you… ashking me out… on a… date?'

The hesitance in his voice made her wince and she swallowed thickly. She really didn't like that tone, and she was thinking it was more and more probable she might just be getting shot down. She remained silent and still for a moment before she raised one arm across her chest to grab her other arm. She took a quiet, deep breath and tilted her head up to look at him through her lashes, still biting her lower lip. He look absolutely dumbstruck, which was certainly something she had never seen from him before and she wasn't sure if she should be relived that his hesitance was from possibly startled by her admission and request, or worried that she had managed to render him speechless added to the whole worry of being rejected. But that worry was understandable, even though she had sworn it was okay if he did, didn't actually mean she liked the idea of it.

She kept her green eyes glued onto her friend's face without moving her head up further to stop looking at him through her lashes. She swallowed again and blinked, her entire expression showing her apprehension for the entire situation. She was clearly uneasy though, even as she opened her mouth to speak her feet shifting the slightest bit. "I-I.... I," she stammered. Asking him out on a date was exactly what she was trying to do, but her courage was running out. She bobbed her head in a slight nod as her shoulders tensed up as if preparing for some sort of blow, even though she knew this would be an emotional one if there was one like she feared. "Yes I am," she practically squeaked. "If you want to anyway. If not we can forget this conversation ever happened and still be friends without it being weird and awkward yeah?" She watched him carefully actually trying to watch his reaction to get a better idea about what his response might be, even with her still worried features.
