Jutsu Training: *[Basic Jutsu • Act of Water Surface Walking]

Hana was excited more than she usually was for once as she was finally able to meet another real life samurai since the one whom had taught her how to use the style she was accustomed to using. It was a great feeling to know even more that he was also trying to learn how to be a ninja as she previously scheduled the training session they were now going to perform earlier in the day. She met the tall man in the village walking around the village, his name, something she completely forgot. All she knew was that the tall, blonde haired man stood across from herself, Koutaishi and Amaria as Koutaishi agreed that he would help the two of them with their jutsu learning.

"Nice to meet you." Koutaishi would speak as he looked out at the man and back down to Hana who was standing beside himself. "Hana hear says you'd like to learn a bit of the ninja arts? I'd be happy to teach you, but we will start with a little harder exercise since Hana here already knows a couple of the jutsu. The first one I'll teach you which is the fifth one she will learn is the act of walking on water. Pretty much how you do this is focus the chakra onto your own feet, feeling the energy within you and holding it in place so that you can walk across water as if it were normal land. If you use too much chakra your foot will bounce off like a spring board and if you use too little you'll probably end up falling into the water. Just hold this seal and walk." he added as he held up his hand and performed a simple seal before walking across the surface of the smooth running creek.

Hana looked in admiration at Koutaishi as she let out a yelp of excitement eager to try herself. "I'll master this just like you did Koutaishi!" she would speak to him as she looked over at the samurai man and back to her leader. She was a little intimidated trying to perform it in front of someone she never met, but she wanted to prove that she too was strong just like that samurai guy as she held up the hand seal that Koutaishi had just shown the two of them.

Once the seal was up she moved over toward the water and began to move the chakra from her body around her and downward toward her feet. This should feel exactly how when he taught me how to climb the trees. I think I should be able to do this in no time and then me and the samurai guy will be super awesome ninja samurai. she would think to herself as she felt the energy continue to build up around her. She wasn't even sure if she was completely ready to walk on water as she moved over toward the creek, placing her foot on the water as it slightly balanced across the surface before falling inward and becoming soaked from the cold water. The lack of balance caused her body to fall forward, wetting her entire self as she screamed from the chill water that ran its way down her body and through her clothes.

"Cold cold cold!" she shouted as she stood back up to the ground, Koutaishi laughing a bit as she gave him a mean glare before getting ready to try the jutsu once more. It was such an embarrassing moment for her considering she wanted to impress the man. Nevertheless she was going to try her jutsu once more as she held up the single seal and started to focus chakra within her body once more. The determination was seen now more than ever as she continued to focus the energy around her body down to her feet, the single seal for walking on water still being held as she had done so. "Just have to do everything nice and slow, then I'll be able to walj across the creek and show them." she muttered to herself as she watched the blonde haired man try and do the same jutsu as well.

As soon as she glanced over she turned her head back toward the creek she was staring at and proceeded to place her foot on the river, this time not immediately falling into the water and actually being able to keep her foot above it. Following she placed her second foot onto the creek, standing tall and true above the water as she smiled a bit at the fact that she was standing on the water. Of course she needed to walk to consider the jutsu complete but this was still a start. AFter the standing Hana would place one foot forward and begin walking across the creek even if it was very unbalanced compared to her normal walking on land.

"Look I'm doing it samurai man!" she would speak out as she fell into the water, losing concentration, though counting that as a jutsu well trained.

The samurai had been sitting on the ground of a local eatery, his eyes closed as he attempted to eat his meal relying solely on sound. It was a form of training he had done since he was a child, and it was honestly child's play to him. Regardless he practiced it every other time he ate, his way of keeping his senses sharp. Of course since it didn't require him much attention to do it, he often found himself focusing on the world around him, rather than his actual meal. The town, though remote and not as crowed as say the hidden villages, where all full of noise, giving the Samurai just enough to make out the details of the world around him. Even things like the shop's sign were clear to him, a wooden oval sign with the word's "Iruka's Cuisine" burned into the wood. The next shop over, although he couldn't see anything embedded or burned into the sign, he could see through his echo location thins bands of some smooth material, as well as items that followed the texture of bone, but finely cut. No doubt these were the Fur Country's version of jewelry. A few stalls over he could make out a large amount of chatter, creating to him the shape of a tent with three men, each arguing over something. The tent had no wears, no signs, nothing, so he couldn't help but wonder what they were arguing about. Although the sound of them arguing was giving him enough sound to show him where they were, he couldn't tell what he couldn't tell what they were talking about. That was the way it had always been, unless he was in an open area or someone was nearby, he couldn't make out what people where saying while he used the sound to power his echo location.

Of course he hadn't been paying much attention to his own location, he was fully aware of how he looked. His pale blonde hair that flowed neatly down his back into a ponytail, held by four hair pins. His skin smooth and flawless, almost seeming as if he had never worked a day in his life. His outfit was the same as the one he had entered the Land of Furs with, a black gigai, with a wooden staff on his back. Two things stood out about him to most people, other than his cleanliness. The first as the wooden staff, which seemed to have veins of silver ore spread throughout the wooden staff. The second were his ears, ears that were narrow and pointed, although not much longer than human ears. However, he had more information to absorb than the area around him now, as he felt two figures approach him. One was a male of average height, and with an average build. He had long hair kept in a pony tail, much like the Samurai's own, except it fell down in a very unkempt manner. His clothing seemed basic, a tunic with finely made pants and black string sandals. The girl was smaller than him by quite a bit, and her build was petite to say the least. Even her hair was shorter, only reaching her shoulders. As he opened his eyes to talk to them, he revealed eyes of silver lightning, which seemed to arc around inside of his iris.

He looked over at the two newcomers with a puzzled expression on his face. Who exactly where these people? Why where they asking him to train with them, and more importantly when had he told either of them he wished to learn ninjutsu? Now that he was using his eyes, he could see the colors of the two before him. The man's hair was a light brown, and his eyes caramel colored. His clothing was a mix of deep reds, sunset oranges, and purples. His skin, now that he could see the texture and imprints of his hands, showed he was a strong taijutsu user, one who used a weapon in his hands. Unfortunately with his tabi, he couldn't see how heavily the man used his feet.

As he looked at the girl, who's hair was revealed to him as silver grey and her eyes that of amber, immediately allowed him figure out how they knew he was interested in learning to use chakra. He had met the girl when he was training on his own, practicing every Kushou-Ryu Soujutsu technique he possessed. She had talked to him about how his style was the same as her...Sensei he recalled her naming him. That must have been the man next to her. So he was willing to teach him?

Standing up, the Samurai would not speak, merely nodding to his question. As he listened to his explanation, the Samurai seemingly lost focus. He remembered thinking back to his ally's own use of the technique. When he was training with his friend, he noted that the man had retreated into a near by stream, but had not sunk into it. Upon questioning, his friend revealed to him the existence of ninjutsu. "It is a simple task. When you do it you focus on your very energy. Not just the energy you feel when excited, but the energy that keeps your veins and arteries contracting, and your heart pumping. The energy that sits concentrated when you hold your leg up high before bringing it down for a kick, waiting to be released. Imagine that but also imagine your spirit along side it. Then, through force of will, move it, and make it move how you want and to where you want it to go." It wasn't until recently the Samurai had actually considered even attempting this. He had firsted assumed that with just physical training his skills, his staff's secret would eventually appear to him, perhaps when he used a specific move of the Kushou-Ryu. But now he was getting close to capitalizing his skill in taijutsu, and the secret of the staff was just as much of a mystery as when he had left. He had attempted the technique several days before, failing several times. Perhaps now with a more in depth explanation, and two demonstrations he could preform it.

As he walked forward, he tapped his staff into a shallow part of the creek. He had an idea to do this without getting himself wet. He flowed chakra through his hands and to the bottom of the staff, eliciting a strange reaction from the object. He wasn't sure what it was, but it was a sign he was on the right path. The Samurai would make a simple barrier of chakra on the staff, which rather than let it stop on the water like it was solid, pushed the water away, forming a temporary whole in the water before the running water refilled the whole, returning the creek to its former self. Again he did the same technique, this time with less will and energy, only to have the staff move as if he had done nothing. There was something he was missing. It was then he remembered his friend's words again: "Make it move how you want it to." That was the problem, he wasn't shaping it right. He had to move it like the water was. Closing his eyes and relying on his echo location, the creek's shape and form were filled for him in great detail. With his echo location, his brain did not have to process colors, making picking up forms and textures easier. Dipping his staff into the creek again, he was surprised to see it stop. He moved the same chakra to his feet, moving his chakra with the water, taking slow strides across the surface. When he reached the silver haired girl and her sensei, he smiled brightly, opening his eyes yet again to show a great passion within them. He had finally done it, which meant he could learn ninjutsu. There was still hope to find out the secret of his staff. "Is there anything else I can learn while you're here?"

Jutsu Training: *[Basic Jutsu • Change of Body Stance Technique]

Hana was excited now more than ever to watch a fellow samurai finish the technique with such ease. The way he was using it was also something she took not of, watching as he used his own staff as a medium to practice the ability of walking on water before even using his own feet, something Hana didn't even know was practically possible to do. It kind of even frustrated her a little bit as she gave a glaring look at Koutaishi for not giving her any kind of tools that could use chakra conductive materials.

Koutaishi also seemed a bit impressed with the way that the samurai was able to pick up on such an advanced ninja beginner technique in such little time. It made him feel almost useless to be wanting to train either of them as he just let out a smile and looked toward Amaria who was just sitting on a rock admiring the clouds above them. Well I guess she would be bored considering she doesn't really need to learn from these techniques. he'd think to himself as he started to ponder on the techniques that he hadn't already taught Hana as one of the more difficult ones was going to be coming up. The concept of changing your body with another object through chakra and hand seals was something a lot of academy student ninja had a problem learning in the beginning of their ninja careers; teaching this to samurai who had not that much concept of chakra was going to be something entirely different.

"Now the next technique is called the change of body stance, and some people might even call it the substitution jutsu. Essentially what this means is you are able to perform a set of seals I will show you and literally replace yourself with another object a certain meter away. It can be an ace in the hole for you to get away from attacks you didn't even know where coming or even help yourself hide if necessary." he would speak out to the two of them, Hana now looking more puzzling then ever. "Also something else, the object you switch with can't be more than two thirds your size." he'd speak again as he brought forth two fallen logs from the forest. "Now I want you to perform these exact seals and try to change places with the object that I placed in front of you okay?" he started to perform a simple set of seals, doing each one slowly so that both samurai could take a look at them carefully. Once he finished those simple set of seals his body would switch places, ten meters with the log that he had placed in front oh Hana; the log would also appear where he was once standing.

"Wow that is so cool Koutaishi I want to try it now and become a super awesome ninja like you! Are you gonna try it to samurai mister?" Hana would shout in all the excitement her little body could muster.

Following her shout she would start to place her hands together and perform the seals that were just shown to her. The chakra in her body was also building up a bit from each seal as she tried to focus on the log that Koutaishi had just switched with himself. Once she finished the routine set of seals for the jutsu she shouted out the name of the jutsu, as well as closing her eyes. AFter a couple of seconds she would open them and see that she was still standing in the same spot she was before, the jutsu not working.

"Why didn't it work for me? I did the seals just like you showed me and built up the chakra stuff in my body too!"

"Did you focus on changing your body with the log?"

"Thats a thing I have to do too?"

Koutaishi would nod his head and Hana would now feel the excitement of wanting to try to perform the technique yet again. She was more determined then ever to get it right this time because she wanted to be as strong, if not stronger than everyone else in her group and she knew the only way to do that was by knowing all of her ninja techniques. After the set of seals had been performed yet again for the second time, she focused her attention on trying to move with the logs, when she finished her body didn't switch places but she did move a couple feet and so did the log, it was as if the jutsu had almost worked but not quite.

"How are you coming along with the jutsu?" she turned and looked to the samurai who was also practicing as well. I got to beat him to it!

With her own encouragin words she would perform the seals yet again and again, taking until her fifth time to actually accomplish what it was she was trying to do. Her body had switched places with the log on the sixth time and though it may have seemed like sloppy work, Hana couldn't complain with the results of finally being able to accomplish yet another task that was given to her by Koutaishi. She was happy that she was becoming one step closer to being a ninja as well as the strongest in the group!

The Samurai would stare unblinkingly as the ninja gave his explanation. So the jutsu allowed one to switch places with an object so that said object could take the damage for them? It certainly seemed interesting to say the least. It would be at least some what useful in battle, although he was sure after using it once no fool would fall for the same trick again. He had to admit it wasn't what he was looking for, but from the ease the man was preforming the hand seals, he had to assume these were the most basic of ninjutsu techniques. If he wanted to preform and use ninjutsu to discover his staff's secret, he'd have to learn and master these techniques as soon as possible.

The Samurai mentally chuckled at the young girl's response to these jutsu. She was certainly an energetic one, practically screaming every word she said. From their first encounter to now, he could tell the child idolized the ninja who was teaching them. What history did the two have together? What brought them together and more importantly, how serious was it to make her idolize him so? It was of no consequence, right now he was training, and the actual success of preforming the jutsu was all that mattered. Placing his staff on his back, the Samurai would again mold chakra, something that he had to admit seemed to came naturally to him. Sure his reserves were better than most do to his high amount of physical energy, gained through years of training with two separate teachers who worked him to the bone and said to keep going, but it seemed the actual control over it was good for a man brand new to the art of ninjutsu. Perhaps someone in his line had utilized the art of ninjutsu before? Perhaps even multiple members of the Kenpachi lineage had used it in varying ways, his body adjusting to his ancestor's heavy use of it? Again he had to refocus his mind, now was not the time for spouting questions, mentally or verbally.

The Samurai, while still holding the chakra in his body, watched the young girl attempt to preform the jutsu before failing. After realizing her error of not trying to connect her chakra to the log, she would take more and more attempts to utilize the jutsu correctly. From the results the Samurai saw Ninjutsu as a strange thing, producing a number of different results with her and the log, although never really changing their positions. Sometimes they both moved the same way, sometimes she moved and the log went to the left of her, and sometimes they somehow ended up running straight into each other. What was it she could be doing wrong? It seemed strange for her to fail at this, being that she seemed to be this man's student. Surely she wasn't so enamored with him after only just beginning her training? Or was it rather that she only recently was allowed training by her sensei?

It didn't matter, the Samurai just needed to make sure he did his right. Focusing his chakra to the log, the Samurai would quickly find himself stumbling forwards from use of the technique, his chakra actually pushing the long into the creek rather than switching places. While his face would not express rage, his mind would practically scream at him. How could he fail that? He was Kenpachi Kenshi, he did not have the luxury of failure. He didn't have that luxury when learning Skitter Step, and he shouldn't have had that luxury when his father was teaching him Kushou-Ryu Soujutsu. Taking his staff, he would use it to jab the log into the air, spinning his staff as the Kushou-Ryu Soujutsu was well known for, before striking with the staff to send the log back onto land where he could focus on it.

Taking a deep breathe, he tried to think: how was he going to get his chakra to connect to the log rather than just knocking into it? He tried to think of substances that could connect two objects. String seemed to be the best and first to come to mind, so he would attempt that. As he tried to mold his chakra, he seemed to find himself making every shape but string, his chakra unable to focus to such a degree. This was going to be quite the infuriating road block. In the third attempt he would try rope and cords, but even those would fail, being far too narrow and requiring small threads put together to make. However, his next attempt would be a success. This time he did what came naturally: mimicking the chakra after his own body. Now his chakra would flow like muscles pulling on the bones of the body. Muscles were the most important part to movement, and that would be his method for forcing the log the switch places. For the first time he could feel his chakra attach to the log, a fact that made him grin slightly before returning to his polite expression. Now he would 'contract' his chakra, again like his muscles, successfully switching places with the log of wood. He would turn his gaze back to the ninja who was teaching both him and the small girl. More than likely, unaware to the Samurai, this would cause more envy to the girl since he had seemingly performed the technique successfully on his second try. However, if anyone could sense chakra, they would no for a fact that it took him multiple failed attempts to actually utilize the ninjutsu correctly.

Jutsu Training: *[Basic Jutsu • Kai Release]

Hana's could not believe her own eyes as she witnessed this samurai man complete the jutsu a much easier fashion then she had done so herself. Yes she was happy that the man she had met was also getting a hang of jutsu like she was, but the fact that he seemed to do it with such ease and flawlessness was enough to make her doubt her own ability to become the strongest samurai in the world. Of course she didn't know that he too was struggling at the ninja arts, even though Koutaishi was able to sense the amount of chakra he had to try and exert for such a basic technique. Even though Koutaishi wasn't a sensor the amount of raw force the other samurai was using for his jutsu could indeed be felt.

Well he is picking up on it and its kind of funny to watch Hana struggle at the fact that he makes it seem like he does it flawlessly. he would think to himself before focusing his attention back at Hana who just kept staring at the man.

"Well you really are good at doing this! Maybe at the next technique I'll be able to beat you at it!" she would shout out at the man. She was now more angry at him and was even more determined to be better than him in the following moments as she looked to Koutaishi for the next technique she needed to learn. "I know there is one more for me to learn! Teach us now Koutaishi!" she would shout out to him as he just looked at her and smiled, his attention turning back to the samurai man as well.

"Alright Hana, since this is the last technique I need to teach you we can do that; then I'll turn my attention and teach this man you brought the other techniques he would need before learning all the ninja arts." he would start to speak before walking in between them both.
"Now the last of the arts to being a ninja is that of genjutsu. Now genjutsu is illusions and creating false senses that don't really exist in the ninja world. They can play a huge part in wearing down the mind of an opponent and using Kai, you'll be able to release its effects on your body."
he stopped to see that they were both still paying attention. "Now the next thing I'll do is cast a genjutsu on you, remember its an illusion and knowing that is half the battle, BUT you need to focus all your chakra in and around your body to dispel its effects on you!" he added as he started to perform a simple set of hand seals before both of them.

Since they were both watching him perform the set of hand seals, both Hana and the samurai would start to smell the scent of rotting flesh around the area. It was quite disgusting and it surely was not something they'd want to be around for long periods of time. "Now remember its false, but you need to use chakra to dispel the affects of this from your body." he made sure to repeat.

Hana instantly took her hand to her nose, hating the way the area around them begun to smell. She couldn't control herself as it made her gag a bit. For an illusion this sure does suck! she'd think to herself as she remembered what the task at hand was for her. She needed to use chakra in her body to make the smells go away. It was all an illusion that Koutaishi had told her about as she held up the seal for kai that she already knew how to perform.

"So instead of using my chakra outside my body and kai, I have to use chakra inside my body and use kai to release this genjutsu you made." she would speak softly to herself as her eyes flashed over to the samurai to see his reaction on the genjutsu as well. She had the determination to beat him and that was exactly what she was going to do as she moved the chakra from her tenketsu throughout her body and started to focus. With all of this jutsu training she did already the idea of molding chakra around her body seemed to come more natural to her with each passing technique as she released the chakra in her body.

Although it did not work the first time she still took in a deep rbeath, coughing from the horrid smells as she realized she didn't actually complete the jutsu the first time. Not wanting to get distracted by the samurai's training she held up kai again, focusing all the chakra in her system once more. It felt better this time, the feeling of all her energy going around her body for once as she kai'd again! This time the chakra was strong, strong enough to actually release her from the effects that the genjutsu was placing over her body as she took in a deep breath again, the smell of dead no longer effecting her senses.

"I did it Koutaishi! It doesn't smell anymore!" she would jump with excitement before turning to see the progression of the samurai again.

*[Genjutsu • Smell Of The Deceased]
D-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
After performing the necessary hand seals, any victim that sees the user preforming the hand seals will be induced under the genjutsu. This causes the target to begin to smell rotting flesh and decaying bodies. The jutsu can cause nausea and vomiting from the target, depending on how sensitive their sense of smell is. The smell of the dead can also cause some mental stress on the target. This genjutsu lasts for three (3) posts.

The Samurai looked over at the small girl, her eyes practically a flame with determination. She was competing with him, at least in her mind, and the fire was growing more and more intense with every jutsu he easily completed. Ironic since he was only doing so well was that he could watch her mistakes, learn form them, and then applying his own logic to the respective jutsu. The samurai did not mind competition, it would help both of them learn these jutsu much faster. Although, he was soon to loose that advantage. This was her last ninjutsu she was to learn, meaning from now on it was him and the ninja alone. While he would still thankfully be learning ninjutsu, he would loose the thing to push him farther other than his own want to discover his family staff's secrets. While he could use the fact of this being his last mission from his father as his sole motivation, it would bring up memories he preffered to keep burried.

Now however he focused his mind on the explanation of the ninja art known as genjutsu. Illusions seemed to be its thing, and itt was something the Samurai never understood. While some grasp of ninjutsu, and he already utilized taijutsu, genjutsu was just strange. It made no sense, how could chakra both create objects with ninjutsu but also create illusions in someone's mind? And more so, how could noone notice the obvious illusions? After all, what genjutsu he'd heard of wasn't exactly subtle, with techniques ranging from mental torture to the body slowly turning to ash to altering the world around them in some sort of drug like trip. So what was it about these techniques that made them so powerful and so difficult to overcome? The Samurai would get his answer in the form of an assault on his own senses.

Right after seeing the hand seals the Samurai would gag as the stench of dead filled his nose. When combined with the smell of the food cooking and burning in the restaurant, the Samurai would find himself back at a time he wished had never even risk happening. He was in his home village, as well as a young adult. His body was beaten, his ribs were broken completely, his wounds were bleeding, and his face was swelled to the point where one eye could not longer open.

The village was burning to a crisp, and people were crying in terror, rage. and sorrow. Metal itself seemed to be crying as the weapons of Samurai and the revolters clashed against each other. Sparks flew from the weapons, only starting more fires, as the words of a former friend called out. "I REFUSE TO LET THAT TRAITOR LIVE! BLOOD ALONE WON'T ATONE FOR WHAT HE'S DONE! I WON'T EXCEPT ANY PRICE OTHER THAN HIS LIFE!" The Samurai's own emotions were resurfacing, his regret, his anger, his fear, all of the emotions he felt that night were returning to his mind.

He saw the samurai and the revolters fight, the battle as one sided as could be. For every samurai that fell, seven citizens died. The only one who was making a difference was the leader of the riots: Akio. He was enraged, and nothing would stand between him and his vengeance. For every wound a samurai gave him, he killed a samurai. His blade work was fast and precise, even in his rage he could see clearer than most of the samurai. As he looked around at his dying allies however, it was obvious they battle was lost. Just in that instant the samurai out numbered them fifty to one, and the gap just kept getting larger and larger with every death. Akio's stare moved towards the Samurai, his eyes burning with rage and a lust for blood. "I will be back." Akio declared as he turned, running as fast as he could from the village. Whenever a samurai attempted to stop him, he was cut down, and Akio not only escaped, but was unable to be pressured. The world faded, and the Samurai returned to the present.

While he was resisting entire minutes of his life in his mind, only a few seconds had actually passed in the real world. He was still gagging, almost vomiting every time he breathed in. This was the deadliness of the genjutsu. The fact that its illusions could assault the senses with no remorse, and assuming the right ones were used, could force memories to resurface against one's will. What was he to do to get out of this? He couldn't focus his chakra, his heart was beating far to fast! He had to calm, down in order to break from there... But how was he supposed to calm down if his senses were filled with this disgusting stench!? He stared at the staff in his hands, the only thing keeping him up. That was it. Focusing chakra into the tip of the staff, he would jab it into his chest, the chakra targeting his heart. His pulse would calm and, to his surprise, the genjutsu as dispelled. Unknown to the Samurai, his chakra never touched his actual heart. Instead he had hit the heart of his chakra pathways, forcing them to stop and restart, exactly what was needed to utilize Kai. After he finally caught his breathe, he looked back up at the shinobi. "What now?"

Stat Training: Stamina

Hana had completed her basics jutsu training and was technically now considered a full fledged ninja samurai. Of course her new training buddy, old samurai man still had lots more to learn which mean that she was going to need to train other things in the mean time. She knew what her body was lacking and decided that those areas that needed her improvement, were going to get her improvement as she started to stretch her body in different directions, getting it to warm up so that she could prepare herself for what was to come next. Her attention even completely drew away from the fact that the man didn't even use kai to release himself from the genjutsu, instead actually just hurting himself. Of course that was indeed a way to escape a genjutsu, but it wasn't the way Koutaishi had tried to teach them.

"Well then Hana, since you already know everything I planned on teaching what are you going to do now?"

"Actually I was still gonna perform jutsu like this guy. Even though I can do them it'll help me with my stamina and ability to fight longer don't you think? That way I can get even stronger just by practicing old techniques I already know how to do!"

Her response made Koutaishi happy that she wanted to grow and was thinking of her own ways to do it as he nodded his head in approval. "That sounds like a good idea. Get tired and push past your bodies limits so that you can become the strongest samurai you wanted to become." he'd speak as he turned his head back to the samurai and then back at Hana. "i guess I can continue to teach you the rest of the basic techniques that are needed to become a ninja as this next one closely mirrors the one you learned when walking on water. The idea is to-"

"Oh oh, the idea is to walk up on trees or wall climbing!" Hana would interrupt.

"Close but the Act of Tree Climbing Technique is what its called and essentially it lets you scale walls, trees, or even just hold your body upside down using chakra in your feet on a surface. At first it'll seem hard but eventually it'll become a second or third nature to you and you'll find yourself doing it without even second guessing yourself."

Hana, eager to start her own training was the first one to start as she ran toward a nearby tree and called out to the samurai man, "Look at me do it!" With her words she would hold up the seal needed to focus her chakra around her feet and begin walking up the side of the tree. She was doing it so well and managed to get up to the about ten feet in the tall trees height out of the thirty before needing to go back down to the ground. Even though she already knew the jutsu, she didn't have the proper control to maintain it for longer periods of time. "Just remember that if you use too much chakra on your feet you might just fly off the tree and too little will actually make you not even catch onto the surface of it."

With her own words she let out a smile before wanting to try the jutsu again, this time going near the same tree the samurai man was standing next to. Using her chakra as much as she planned was going to be a great way to work on her stamina, especially since she had little control and very little ninjutsu knowledge. Once she got to the tree she would focus her chakra once more, moving up along the side of the tree as she had her knife in hand. This time, on her second try she was able to get to thirteen feet before feeling the chakra fade from the sole of her feet. She quickly used her knife to carve a marking in the tree as a spot that she was going to be more determined to surpass for the next time that she tried the technique. She even placed it there as a kind of mark for the samurai to see if he could even beat the placement she started out with.

I'll make sure that I beat him in this since I already know how! she'd think to herself, staring at the samurai to make his move on the training exercise.

Training: Act of Tree Climbing

The next jutsu was simple enough in theory, as far as the Samurai was concerned. He had already preformed the same technique on water, a liquid surface. It would make logical sense that it would be simpler to do so on a solid surface. Then again this was ninjutsu he was dealing with, the techniques that created living drawings, created matter from nothing, turning bubbles into bombs, allowed on to control golems, and alter pre existing matter. Logic didn't have much hold over how things behaved when it came to this specific field of combat.

Regardless he would focus his chakra the same way he did on the water, taking steps on the tree. Not even successfully taking one step, he fell backwards, using his staff as a balance to pole vault himself back onto his feet. Again he would attempt to use the ninjutsu, unsure what he was doing wrong as he fell again, repeating the exact same movement with his staff to stop himself from hitting the ground. He would watch the girl again, his face finally showing some facial reaction, smiling as she showed her competitive side. "You certainly have talent at preforming these techniques." He said in his normal friendly tone, now that he had calmed down from the events of the genjutsu and his ally having gone missing. "I must commend you on such skill. So far my only skills have been in my martial arts." Whilst speaking he would study his approach in his mind, the conversation serving only to give his body something to do. He moved the chakra to his feet, just as he did with water walking, and kept it moving. Perhaps that was the problem, that he was moving his chakra like he did with water, rather than keeping it still since he was standing on a solid object. He would form a solid platform of chakra beneath his feet as he began to walk again. For his first two steps he was managing to walk up the side of the tree. Of course afterwards his lack of control surfaced, not only sending him flying off the tree, but removing the first layer of bark on the areas his feet were located when he was utilizing the technique.

He had used the jutsu, but just using it wasn't good enough, he had to keep it up and get beyond a goal. Of course that would require him to have a goal. Looking at the gash in the tree, he couldn't help but wonder if the girl had done that on purpose, and possibly had failed exactly where she had managed to land on her first try so that they could compare their first attempts. Regardless, that was his goal now.

Again walking up the side of the tree, he would focus his chakra, something stressful to an experienced mind. Not only did he have to keep it flat, but he had to control the out put his chakra, lest he send himself flying off the tree again or loose his grip and fall from the tree. His walking slowed to a crawl, only taking a step every ten seconds, something that despite it's annoying encumbrance didn't bother the Samurai. Whatever it took to master this technique, even if it meant training for the whole day just to take thirteen steps. After he took a total of five steps, ten feet, he felt his chakra begin to fade again, he was going to fall. Again his would jab his staff into the ground, doing a flip so that he landed on his feet. Such work over a basic ninjutsu, it was strange. He would turn his head to the girl, a smile on his face as he asked for help. "You wouldn't happen to have any advice on how to keep the technique up would you?"

Something said had brightened up Hana's day more than ever. The samurai, whom was having such an easy time learning all of the other jutsu that Hana could not was now asking for advice on how he could get up the tree like she had done so before. It was a dream come true, the fact that she was finally better then him at something even if it was something as basic as walking up and down the side of a tree. Her thoughts on the matter were racing in every direction as she took a deep breathe, trying to hide back the obvious excitement form the task at hand.

She had studied his previous attempts on the jutsu, watching as he would fall the first time and struggle to only walk up the side of a tree the next couple of times. None of them were anywhere near the thirteen foot mark she had left for herself as her eyes wandered up to the scratch mark on the tree. She even took account the fact that the tree bark had been stripped off the sides a little as she started to focus her own chakra around her body once more. Now is my chance to be a teacher and teach someone else how to use jutsu! If my explanation is not right Koutaishi will embarrass me and then I'll look like a fool so I can't have that happen. she'd think to herself as she walked over to the tree where the samurai was standing.

"Alright so the way I think I can help you get the tree is that like you have to not think about it as walking in a vertical matter. Think of yourself as just walking normally, or or or." she'd stop to look at Koutaishi who just watched her. "Imagine that you have glue on your feet and it starts to get sticky when it touches the tree. That stickiness will help you stand upright and then try walking with the glue?" she added, not really even sure if what she said had made any kind of sense. Regardless of the fact she would hold her seal up and attempt to get to the top of the tree again by herself, running up to her thirteen foot mark before having to jump off and get back downward to the ground.

"What she means to say is you need to focus an even amount of chakra onto your foot before taking a step. If you place to much your foot will repel itself off the tree and you will end up falling. If you put to little its like you stood on soap and slipped. Find the balance right in the middle when using you chakra control and eventually you will find yourself clinging to the side of the tree." Koutaishi would speak as walked up and performed the same technique, though walking all the way up to a branch and standing upside down from it.

Hana looked with the amazement at the fact that Koutaishi was such a pro as she decided that she wanted to do the same, running up the tree once again this time going two feet taller and marking her spot on the tree. "At least I'm progressing but I gotta go further!" she whispered to herself before running upward on the tree again for yet another time. This time she reached her spot once more, fifteen feet. The only downside to her doing this was the fact the the fatigue was starting to set in. She had never really tried exerting this much chakra within her body before and it was taking its toll on her as the determination to push through that feeling grew inside the body of the small girl.

That isn't all I got, I need to push past that and try more and more if I truly want my stamina to build up! she would think to herself before staggering to her tree once more and focusing chakra into her feet. As she took a deep breath from the exhaustion she was feeling she ran up the tree again, running and running harder and harder past the limit she set forth for herself as she reached the twenty foot mark, grabbing hold as her foot lost traction and touching the branch that was high above them. She had really beaten her mark and was now sitting next to Koutaishi who still stood standing upside down on the same branch.

"Your turn mr samurai! Beat that!" she shouted back down to the ground with the utmost excitement. Her stamina was truly building as well considering she should of passed out from that much chakra use, but even then she was determined to give it a go even more and push pass that limit she had once more. there was no stopping her.

The Samurai began to absorb the information he was given. He knew he was getting the chakra portions out but the way he was approaching it was wrong. Think of it as walking on the ground, but with chakra added, don't think of it as walking against gravity. It was harder than it sounded for him, as it went against how he saw the world and how it worked. To go against years of training and beliefs was not as simple as just saying: it doesn't work that way now. The Samurai took a deep breath as he began to walk up the tree again. He had to think of a way to make him ignore the pull of gravity, in his mind at least. With each step he could feel gravity trying to pull his head backwards, giving him an idea on how to preform the jutsu. Bending his neck forward, as far as his head was concerned it was the same as standing up straight, so now it was a matter of moving on his own and adjusting.

For an entire minute he would climb the tree with his neck tilted, each time decreasing it by slightly less. For now he was merely walking, not yet adjusted to the jutsu enough to try running. After it got the point he could walk with his head straight, he would begin to run, and not only pass the thirteen feet the girl had first set, but even managed to get one step passed twenty feet. Jumping back, he would land on a branch opposite of the one the other two stood on. "This ninjutsu of yours is strange to say the least." The Samurai commented, still unsure if he had fully adjusted to the 'act of tree climbing' as they called it.
