Stat Training: Sync

Akki was one of the few whom had arrived late to the grand Fur Country party. He loved the smell the tall trees gave off around the town as well as the food that was made by all of the vendors within. It was a new place and was not the boring village of Konohagakure that he had been stuck in for so long. One thing he was more than determined to do while out here was train with his Kikaichu swarm as the bugs rested within his jacket and that is exactly what he was going to do with them as he stood outside the town in an arena across from another boy.

"Glad you were able to make it to the super awesome AKki training session today." he would speak out to his opponent as his arms moved forward his green jacket flowing through the wind. One thing was for sure, with all of these trees around this would be the perfect place for him to train with the swarm as he checked his opponent for any sudden movements. "Nothing lethal! Just have at it until you completely tire yourself out!" he would shout out again as it was the sign to start.

"Go!" he would shout as the bugs would start to fly out from beneath his jacket. The sounds of their wings fluttering from within as they begun to seep out from all sides of his clothing, mainly his sleeves and the bottom of his forest green jacket. There were thousands of them coming forth as they moved in a straight linear line toward his opponent, buzzing about as they had done so. With today's training being with the squad I gotta work on commanding their every move and perfecting the synchronization that we will have together. he'd think to himself as the boy who was know twenty meters away from Akki was now only ten meters away from the Kikaichu swarm.

Once the bugs would reach within five meters of their opponent they would turn into a sharp right turn as well as left, splitting down their center and starting to form a circle around their opponent. It was all about the timing and the movement of the insects for now as Akki was feeling the warm up from commanding them already. His eyes were focused clearly on the movements of his swarm and the fact that they would be able to listen to everything he had told them to do even from the distance they were at.

Alright so first we will try to swarm around the guy and following that I'll try to attack him from literally all sides of three hundred and sixty degrees. If that doesn't work then I'll have them move over in my direction to protect me as well as attack forward once more. His plan was obviously very simple, but that didn't really matter to him since today was all about his perfecting the sync. By the ened of the day he was hoping that he would be able to just look in the direction and his swarm know exactly what it was he had wanted him to do.

When Yozei had encountered a fellow genin of Konoha in the village of Nekumi he knew he couldn’t pass up the opportunity to train with a fellow countryman. It was a welcome encounter. Even though this land had a very similar terrain to home, large forests and an abundance of wild animals the journey had been quite long, spanning weeks of travel. He had set off with only his father and though he knew there were surely a few ANBU operatives not far away the entire time it had been a great bonding experience, learning much about the outdoors and wilderness survival. Nonetheless he felt somehow guilty spending so long away from his genin team, missing out on training with his newfound friends and growing as a squad with them.

Having this opportunity to spar with Akki, a boy of the Aburame clan was in a way a reminder of these obligations. He would train with a peer and hope his teammates were doing the same. When he finally returned home after over a month away he would do so having become much stronger, that was a vow he swore to uphold. “Yeah, me too. I’ve never fought an Aburame before. Should be fun” he stated, excited to test himself against the power of the famed kikaichu swarms. Before he even began he knew that he would rather not kill too many of the bugs, the other boy had said nothing lethal after all and while sacrificing some insects always came with the territory, losing the majority of a swarm would be a devastating blow and likely be seen as quite an insult. He would therefore refrain from using katon unless he had no other choice.

Instead as Akki sent forth the thousands of insects from beneath his fluttering coat Yozei decided he would first work on honing his awareness and ability to track the large number of targets. Being able to react quickly and adapt to changing situations as well as anticipate attacks were key components of being a skilled shinobi. His eyes darted between the many insects, gauging their speed and determining that they were rather impressive. To be expected of an Aburame whom likely devoted more time to developing the skills of his swarm than his own physique. If it came down to a proper fight the most sensible solution would be to maneuver oneself in such a way as to attack the boy himself and separate him from his swarm.

Charging forward as he formed handseals Yozei would attempt just that, closing to 5 meters as dust and dirt swirled around Akki even as his swarm of insects closed in around Yozei. He had to know, were the insects able to act on their own accord or did there have to be some kind of visual link or concentration on the users behalf in order to control them? Having never encountered an Aburame before these were all new ideas to explore for the boy and while he may have put himself at risk in order to determine this he ultimately knew that it was nothing more than a spar and he wasn’t in any true danger so he could afford to take a few chances.

Without wasting time he would form another quick set of seals, creating an earth clone in front of him. With any luck Akki wouldn’t see the formation through his obscured vision and perhaps if he only made out the vague figure he would even focus the swarm entirely on the clone. Regardless Yozei didn’t intend on just standing there and finding out first hand. If he was able to he would attempt to find an opening in the surrounding swarm and utilize a burst of speed to get out of the area and somewhat into the clear as he made for the trees. Already his mind was being forced to work quickly, having to come up with strategies on the fly and remain constantly aware of his surroundings. It was quite a demanding challenge though if he could keep this up for quite some time he was sure his perception and tactical ability would benefit greatly as a result.

After forming the necessary hand seals the user will focus their chakra into the ground around an opponent who is within 5 meters of their position. At a speed 8 dirt and dusk will rise up around them, swirling to a diameter of 3 meters. Small rocks will continue to pelt them with 2 strength as the dirt obscures their vision. If the target has a means of protecting their eyes against the dirt one would be able to make out vague shapes and movements through the cloud. After 2 posts the dirt and rocks will settle.

After forming the needed hand seals and flooding the ground around them with chakra, the user will cause a clone to materialize out of the ground. The clone is made of rock, and is quite strong and durable, but can only move within a quarter mile of the user. The clone is only able to use taijutsu attacks, and has the following stats: 2 Taijutsu, 4 Stamina, 5 Strength, and 1 Speed.

The warm sunny breeze felt good as it splashed across the Aburame teen's face. He was excited to finally be training with the swarm as he looked onward at the first of the counters from his opponent. The first was a kind of dust storm that was tossed around him which did have little nips and knick here and there from the pellets of dirt that were rising. It was kind of a unique technique that he enjoyed watching and even contemplated on one day learning as he couldn't really see what was happening with the second technique. Even though he had glasses on he wasn't able to discern the earth clone from the one who would disappear, though his swarm could do something of the sort.

They were still their own being and even if Akki could not see what had happened they had the general idea themselves. Using their wings and their sounds they would begin to swarm around the clone, making a larger than normal buzzing sound as if communicating with Akki who was listening to the group of them attentively. He understood that the their were now two targets for him to hit, and taking care of the one on the ground first was probably the better idea.

Taking that thought into consideration he shifted his hands and pointed one hand outward toward the clone that was before him, not knowing if it was a clone or not and sending half of his swarm to attack into it. His other arm would tuck in underneath his arm as the other half of his thousands of insects would come back to his side, as if in a defensive aid if needed. The hardest part about being a swarm user was trying to get your large swarm to differentiate and perform multiple tasks at a single time. This was the main reason that Akki was trying to train with them.

So far they are responding to all of my commands in a timely fashion. he would think to himself as he jumped outward to the left to get away from the pebbles and dust that continued to strike him from all over. That pebble jutsu was surely annoying and now that I see the target we shall have the first swarm take them down! he would continue to think as he had his left hand out in an open position, closing it into a fist as the swarm around the clone would dive in from all angles.

Using his right hand he would wave it around his body in a circle as the swarm flew around his body acting as a barrier of sorts if his opponent were to try and attack from a different position. They weren't dense enough to block his field of vision, but they were close enough to be able to move together to stop any kind of incoming attack he should be weary to look for. Using both arms to try and control the swarm without talking to them was considerably difficult. They would have to relay the information amongst themselves with only the hand signs he was using to guide them.

I got to figure out better ways to communicate with the swarm. If I can do that then we shall be in perfect sync. But how can I talk to them other than speech and hand signals. I wonder if they will understand eye movements if I try to guide them with my eyes. he'd think before tapping his hand against his head. I have glasses on, they can't even see through my shades. he'd think again as he let out a small laugh to himself.

"Where are you hiding other you? Idk if you are hiding your clone or your real body, but come out come out wherever you are!" he would shout out into the forest as he kept moving his swarm around the clone on the ground without knowing it was a clone as well as around his bdoy with his other hand to just keep the swarm in motion.

As Yozei made his tactical retreat he noted the way in which the swarm began buzzing louder. Were they distressed because of a lack of guidance? Had he found a weakness in the Aburame’s technique. No, that didn’t seem to be it, for after growing louder their buzzing seemed to shift in tone here and there and not long after they were once again moving in an organized fashion. ‘Amazing, his connection to the insects is incredible’ he noted. It seemed that separating Aburame from their swarm was a much more daunting task than he had realized. If they could communicate based off sight and sound and maintain some semblance of common sense and independent thought then there really was little hope unless he could isolate them completely or physical destroy the swarm. With their numbers that seemed like a rather exhausting technique and he knew full well from trying to swat at swarms of mosquitoes or biting flies that blunt force alone would be basically useless and even katon techniques would have to be massive in scale in order to thin their numbers down to next to nothing.

Still, there had to be a way. There was always a way and testing an opponent thoroughly was essential in learning the ins and outs of their technique as well as being able to come up with a means of countering them. Strategy was something that highly interested the young Konoha shinobi. He wanted to be able to rely on his mind and like his father adapt to any situation though unlike his father he didn’t have the vast array of jutsu and experience to be able to do so. Therefore he had to think outside the box and use whatever he did have. At the very least he hoped to be able to hone his perception and evasiveness. Both would be critical skills to learn and utilize in the years to come if he wished to become a successful shinobi and eventually claim the rank of Chunin.

Moving away from the swarm and into the trees the auburn haired boy looked back in time to see his opponent moving his arms within the swirling dust before jumping out of the cloud. ‘So he was still using hand signals then, they don’t have a telepathic link.' He noted, at least not at this level, he wasn’t sure if that was an ability that could be gained with more experience or perhaps an additional jutsu. It seemed likely and it certainly wasn’t a possibility that he would discredit entirely just a factor that he deemed was most likely not present in this particular case. Attempting to conceal himself before Akki took note of him Yozei moved about another 20 meters into the forest before hunkering down in some bushes. ‘Let’s see how well they can track’ he noted, resting his hand on the ground and wishing that he knew the doton jutsu that would allow him to travel underground. Soon he would set aside a week to improving his jutsu set and granting him more options but alas the heat of battle was no such place for that.

While he waited Yozei would keep an ear out for the buzzing sounds of the Kikaichu as well as peering through the bushes in search of the large swarm if they did approach in a group. Meanwhile his clone had served its purpose as a decoy. Nonetheless it would play its part, drawing the earthen replica of its sword which appeared just the same as the original before charging towards Akki aggressively and ultimately being overwhelmed by the imposing swarm. Whether the insects drained chakra or simply utilized sharp mandibles the creation would eventually be destroyed, resorting to a heap of mud after struggling against the impressive strength of the collective swarm.

He heard the shouts of the Aburame. It seemed that he and his swarm weren’t able to differentiate between the original and the earth clones until after they were destroyed. That was useful information and brought with it the thought to test another strategy on this opponent. Forming another set of seals the boy would create a new earth clone before promptly placing a pair of exploding tags on its back. It would then walk out from cover and begin moving at an angle towards the swarm though making efforts to keep himself concealed as he moved in short bursts, as if attempting to sneak up on the opponent for a better angle to attack from. If Akki and his insects took the bait and attacked Yozei would be ready and watching, prepared to detonate the clone as soon as it was consumed by insects.

The bugs would soon be able to differentiate the chakra from the clone as that of one made of earth. It wasn't a shadow clone so it didn't resemble all of the same signatures as it. I mean it didn't really matter at that point anyway as they would consume it down to its raw ingredient, earth. Once the clone would demolish and turn to the ground he would look around for a place the boy from Konoha could of been hiding. There was tree, and brush and more tree and the game of hide and seek was not something he would want to entirely experience as he move his hands into a fist and placed them around himself.

The Kikaichu would begin to swarm around Akki, circling his body and waiting for further instruction as he swayed a hand back and forth, the bugs following the motion and doing the same. It was like watching a conductor at a music hall who grabbed the full attention of his orchestra as Akki scoured the area for some sign of his opponent. It wasn't long though before he saw movement in the trees, keeping note of where it came from as he pointed a finger at the moving figure.

It seemed to be the boy once more, but after seeing an earth clone once, he didn't want to not take it into consideration as he placed his hands together and split them apart slowly, the swarm turning into two separate bodies. After doing so he would wave his right hand toward the moving figure, keeping his left hand steady and by his side for whenever it was he would need it. Watching the figure move through the trees his swarm would buzz around violently before trying to attack it. They would also split into two separate swarms before attacking from both sides of a tree they cornered the other boy in, though meeting an untimely fate as chakra kai was used not once, but twice to detonate an explodinug tag on the earth mans body.

Damn, not the swarm. he'd think as he started to perform a set of hand seals with the bugs that were still around him. After his sealing was done he would hold the last one up, chakra flowing throughout his body and into the insects as they begun to sprout larvae up from below on the ground. Its okay if the rank falls apart, I'll just have to make more of them to help out. he'd think again before turning his back to the direction from where the clone originally started running from and back to where it exploded.

"Sorry guys! We'll get him back I promise." he'd whisper to himself.

Now earlier when he saw the moving figure come from an area and pointed he had sent two bugs in that direction to scout outward and look around. The reason being is because they were both females, that if they found their target would be the perfect pair to help track the real ninja boy if he continued to try all kinds of attacks. It was something he hoped would work, but who knew considering he didn't have an exact location of the other Konoha genin.

Still, Akki stood on the ground near the larvae that he was sprouting up from the ground. He didn't really have the luxury of moving around until he could replace the ranks of his swarms and prepare them for another onslaught of battling that would soon come. Hopefully these new bugs could help his sense of ownership and help bring them together in perfect sync and synergy.
he would really need the progress to get stronger and prove to everyone back home that letting him go out on this vacation was one hundred percent worth it.

Through the thicket of bushes and behind the cover of a sizable tree Yozei watched with curiosity to see if the bait would be taken and surely enough it had been. As soon as the insects all swarmed around his clone he detonated each of the tags, one after the other. The dual explosions rang out and a majority of the insects lay dead, either burned up in flame or killed by concussive force. He wondered again for a moment if this would incite anger in his sparring partner, he hoped not though he wasn’t quite sure. There wasn’t any screaming or anything of the sort so that was a good sign, likely the Aburame were well used to having to replenish their swarms and perhaps they had a method for doing so on the battlefield. Whether or not that was the case however he wouldn’t know for certain until the new additions did in fact spawn.

He considered emerging and attempting a direct attack though he was still at quite a disadvantage. ‘I wonder how many times I can use the same tactic before he catches on’ he wondered. It was a challenge to limit oneself to only a handful of techniques and strategies. Hit and run tactics were something he enjoyed utilizing from time to time and this was the perfect opportunity to test them against someone of a similar skill level. Moreover it worked well because his own specialty of close range fighting was highly impractical against a skilled mid-range fighter who could both defend and attack at the same time.

Unless he aimed to actually seriously harm his opponent or force a surrender there was little he could do to stop him, such was the nature of not only katon but swordsmanship in general. That didn’t mean he couldn’t bluff an attack however or even test the waters. It was an interesting prospect and one he decided to test. Once more he would create an earth clone and place a single exploding tag on him this time, also placing one on the ground where he and his clone now crouched. This time however it would be the original to rush out into the open. Kunai drawn he would charge forward at about the same speed as an earth clone. Would his opponent be able to tell the difference just from sight? Unlikely. If he did assume he was a clone though would he really risk attacking again and potentially falling for the same tactic twice in a row? He doubted it and would use that second guessing to his advantage, hoping to close in on his opponent and gauge his reaction. All the while he would keep an eye out for the insect swarms hoping to see if any moved in on his earth clone or make a flanking maneuver to try to catch him off guard.

What Yozei didn’t realize however was that the pair of female kikaichu had already found him back when he had been performing the chakra kai technique. Whether both females were currently on his person or if one had stayed back at his original location he had no idea. What he did know however was that if the swarm did move in to attack him he would immediately throw his kunai at Akki’s chest with full strength before forming hand seals for the substitution technique once the swarm had enveloped him. This would of course replace him with his earth clone to which he would promptly form the chakra kai technique again, hopefully confusing his opponent. If the swarm didn’t attack him he would test the boy in close quarters picking up speed, throwing the kunai and then drawing his sword and aiming for a diagonal slash at the kid.

The fight was steadily progressing and the two Genin were taking their time to carefully plan every attack they were using against each other. It was a good sign and it meant that they were really going to get a lot of knowledge and use from this session. As it continued onward the two female Kikaichu from before would land on the original body of the genin boy from before. It took them a bit to find him entirely, but once it happened they were able to latch on quietly, onto the top of his shoulder before crawling slightly onto the middle of his back where his blind spot would be.

On other note, Akki still held his single seal upward as he begun to channel the chakra into the larvae that were now fully growing into the Kikaichu that he knew and loved. He was replenshing the ranks of his swarm with a simple technique that was a basis for almost ALL the Aburame clan users. Without it, when a swarm was lost they would be completely useless in all kinds of combat, which Akki wasn't about to become.

The way the insects are reacting means that the females have are secreting their pheromone to them. They found his location, but is he going to continue just creating more clones and blowing them up or how is that even going to work. It will indeed be kind of annoying if he just continues to play this attack and dodge tactic like that. Maybe I won't just entirely attack into it

With his thought process nearly over, Akki would decide on the plan that was best suited for his counter attack to the explosions. He watched as the swarm began to change their sense of direction, which meant that the other boy was already on the move. The two females continued to release their scent as the Aburame boy moved his hands forward, commanding his Kikaichu to follow suit, though he didn't want them to attack him directly as they used the trees and the surrounding brush to close in while maintaining cover. While doing so he also kept part of his swarm around him, though in a larger cluster to make it seem that the majority of them were with him and that he were only waiting patiently for a counter attack. By doing this the opposing boy would throw forth a Kunai, as he didn't see any swarms immediately attacking his person.

Watching the kunai release from the boys hand, Akki was amazed by the strength it was thrown with. It move quickly but he knew it wasn't something that he could easily just move to the side to avoid, which he did, only to realize that his opponent was also trying to close the distance between them. If he is trying to take me on in a one on one, then now is the time to act upon him and try to take him down. he would think to himself as he clapped his hands together, all of the other half of his swarm moving out from their hiding spots and rushing in on the boy that was charging in at Akki. They moved just a tad bit faster then him and by doing so it caused the boy to perform seals and what seemed to be, disappear for a quick moment.

Seeing this, Akki realized it was another attack to try and blow up the ranks of his swarms as he commanded with his hands for the insects to take cover. They only had a second to move and the ones on the farthest outside to attacking were able to get behind a nearby tree or behind brush that was on the ground, the explosion from the earth clone rocking a part of the swarm that was unable to fully evade the explosion taking place. It only really meant one thing for Akki as he held up a seal and started to create more insects once more. He substituted, which means the females are still on him.

With that thought in mind, he would assume his opponent didn't know that he knew where he was, commanding the swarm that was able to recover and the ones around his body for a full frontal attack on the position of the boy. The females on his back were still creating a scent that was able to be followed as the insects would fly in from all around him, literally making an almost perfect sphere around the boy of dark, buzzing creatures. Akki himself, moved closer toward them incase there was something he was going to need to do with the swarm to better protect them or even yet, better protect himself.

"Lets see you try and escape from this one." he would speak to himself as he let out a smile with a hopeful checkmate position. Let's just hope he doesn't replace himself again or else this game of cat and mouse will just start all over again. he would think after, keeping his eyes fixated on the counter he had created.

As Yozei charged forward, increasing his speed the closer he got to his opponent he was able to more accurately determine the speed of the insect swarm, noting that if it came down to it outrunning them would prove difficult. All the more reason why he had to employ hit and run tactics and strategy. Increasing his own speed and maneuverability would certainly be on his list of improvements to make though he wasn’t sure if this was the best opportunity to work on such a thing. Perhaps if he was running out of options he could attempt to push his body to new levels. His opponent was able to dodge the thrown kunai without too much difficulty. It was a bit of a surprise to be completely honest, he had anticipated that the Aburame’s physical speed and reaction time would be rather slow but evidently he had trained enough to at least remain competent in evading and defending himself. That was also something for him to take note of. This kid was actually pretty good and it was likely that Yozei was the one at a disadvantage if looked at objectively.

Nonetheless every training session or spar was an opportunity for growth and that’s how he had to look at it. The boy hated losing but he loved to improve. He didn’t have time to draw his sword, instead cutting out early and performing hand seals for the substitution jutsu. It wasn’t a maneuver he could utilize too often and had to be saved for critical points in a battle. To some it would seem like a waste to utilize such a technique early on though it hadn’t been completely in vain. If he hadn’t he would after all have been trapped and drained of his chakra, moreover he had learned several things from his charge. From the cover of trees once again the genin of konoha formed the hand seal for kai, releasing the chakra in the exploding tag on his clone and detonating it in a burst of mud and rock shrapnel. The explosion this time seemed far less effective than the last, partially due to a smaller explosion and therefore radius of effect and also because his opponent was learning to anticipate his actions. He wagered that many of the insects would remain unharmed this time. The question was, what would his opponent do now? Whether he sought Yozei out or responded to an attack he had lost insects and been subject to his tricks. It was clear that thus far the son of the Hokage was winning the battle on one front at least and that was the ability to control the ebb and flow of battle. The pacing was dictated by him with his opponent playing into his hand.

How long until that changed? He was beginning to run low on options though luckily he had still planned a couple more moves ahead of time. With his back to the bark of the tree Yozei calmed his breathing and focused his mind. There was still a tagged kunai stabbed into the ground and he had 9 more left in his weapons pouch. That was enough to keep him fighting for a while, there too were his katon techniques. ‘I can’t keep hiding, it’s just a matter of time before they find me’ he realized. He couldn’t rely completely on clones and substitution anymore, he had to adjust his tactics and test a more advanced defence. With his full composure he began chanelling chakra throughout his body. Only partially into this process however Yozei heard the tell-tale sound of buzzing moving towards him. The only options were to finish his technique or attempt to flee and he knew that wouldn’t get him far. He had to take the risk. A moment later and the swarm was all around him. Turning, Yozei began to run up the tree as his seals were completed. Doton chakra flowed throughout his body, encasing himself in a fairly elaborate defensive armor, granting him the appearance of a true samurai.

After running about 15 feet up the tree the boy would flip backwards, throwing a tagged kunai into the tree itself, ‘How’d they find me so fast?’ he wondered, forming a handseal as he detonated the tag on the ground first followed momentarily by the one on the tree. 8 tagged kunai remaining. The blast served to help propel him backwards and hopefully cause Akki to pull his insects back again, not being able to see clearly the situation from behind the tree he would hopefully try to protect his swarm after hearing the sound of the first explosion. Perhaps he could even get under the Aburame’s skin and make him frustrated with these constant explosives. It had to be getting irritating by now. If he could do that he might be able to take advantage of his state of mind. That was all just speculation however. For now Yozei would land on the ground, sword drawn as he once again circled around towards Akki. He was moving swiftly and prepared to test the effectiveness of his jutsu against the Aburame and his swarm. He wondered how his armor would fare against the insects, enough to offer a proper defence or just buy a little extra time. Either way he hoped that it would be enough to get him close or offer him the chance to fight back. As he ran his sword would begin glowing with chakra before being consumed in flames. He was pulling out all the stops now. How would his opponent respond?

C-Ranked Ninjutsu
By channeling chakra into their blade, the user is able to cause a mass of flames to converge around their blade, changing it to look like a two handed greatsword instead of its normal amount, effectively increasing the reach of the blade by 2 feet and widening the blade by a foot. The blade, or the fire from the blade, causes second degree burns on contact and lasts for 5 posts unless dissipated by other means.

His opponent was on the move again, or at least that was what was being relayed by the female Kikaichu that was still attached to him. It would appear that he still didn't know about her ability to bring forth the other male counterparts as the swarm continued to follow, though cautiously as they were unaware of the plot that was being created on the other end. It was a game of cat and mouse between the Aburame boy and the Hokage's son though their roles of cat and mouse continued to change as they were continuously chasing each other and trying to use their own plans to take the other down.

Akki was now approaching the tree where the boy was at after his substitution. He was slowly creeping up, pausing only for a moment as the swarm of his paused as well about to attack. From that instance the other genin started to run up the tree, performing more Doton and creating some kind of armor around his body. The insects would chase him upward on the tree until Akki noticed him jump off and throw what seemed to be a tagged kunai toward the same tree. He is probably using another tag I need to have everyone get to safety! he' quickly think to himself, running towards a nearby tree himself and using it as a stepping stone to jump outward away from where the explosion was going to occur. The swarm of his would descend downward away from the explosion and toward the ground.

Once the explosion occurred, Akki commanded his swarm to come back toward him for full protection as the top half of the tree started to fall down. The sound of it crashing through the brush was loud and distracting as the Aburame boy shifted his eyes into the brush, the female Kikaichu still giving her scent for the rest of the swarm to follow. She was surely doing a great job at hiding and giving a heads up to the boys position.

Now that Akki knew the boy was on the ground again he would have his swarm all stand beside him, performing a set of hand seals before releasing a jutsu of his own. In that instance a torrent of his insects would fly forward where the boy in armor was supposed to be standing. I can use this because I'm sure his armor will at least protect him from the initial attack from the swarm. he'd think to himself. Once I get the doton off from over his skin maybe I can stop him completely and end this little sparring session. he'd think again as the insects flew forward.

As the small torrent of Kikaichu flew forward a large glow of fire would appear from the other side of the brush where the other konoha boy was coming from. It was a katon jutsu, something Akki didn't know the boy could use as the jutsu cast was not going to be stopped. There was no way he could command the insects that were already in pursuit from a jutsu that used a bit of his chakra as he hoped for the best that they'd survive the onslaught from the flames. Seeing that fire also had the boy move himself farther back into the brush as he realized it might be his turn to hide so that he didn't waste the unnecessary amount of chakra recreating his insects time after time.

The other genin was circling around him and closing the distance fast, but he did have to deal with the torrent that was sent first. In that instance I'll use the distraction of him attacking the swarm with his sword to take my own hiding into play. he'd think keeping his eyes focused for when the other boy would strike at the torrent. Once the boy would swing down with his sword Akki would dive to the left behind a tree, his swarm already spreading out and upward around the area. From there he would attempt to climb upward alongside the tree to reach the peak where his swarm was. By doing this he was trying to get an idea of how efficiently the boy could move while in stone armor as well as swinging a fire sword.

After the appropriate hand seals, the Aburame holds the last seal before firing off a 2 inch diameter stream of insects in a straight line up to ten meters away. The insects fly forth at a strength and speed equal to the users (nin+ctrl)/2 up to a maximum of 10 and upon impact use their mandibles to claw and tear at the target. This can be held for a maximum of two posts.

As Yozei ran out from the area of the explosions he quickly realized that Akki was no longer in plain view, scanning the area quickly he looked back towards the area he had been. It would make sense that the Aburame would have moved closer to be able to create a line of sight between the two of them in order to control the swarm with utmost efficiency. He followed the path of the swarm, they were pulling back defensively and after a moment he could make out a glimpse of the boy within the protective sphere that was forming around him as the tree crashed down. This was good, he was closer than he had anticipated. Shifting his approach Yozei circled behind cover, hoping to approach unseen until he got close enough. When his sword erupted in flames he knew that stealth was all but pointless by now though he was surprised to find the swarm already upon him the moment he moved out from behind cover. It was almost as if they had anticipated his movement and had been waiting for him. ‘Am I being tracked somehow or just predictable?’ he wondered as he swung his blade at the oncoming insects. The pattern was a familiar and instinctual one, a simple crescent cut that should be effective at parting the swarm and creating an opening. If they responded to the roaring flames like they did his explosive tags the kikaichu would be wary at best of the flames and perhaps even retreat if he struck them down successfully enough times.

At least a few scores of insects would be burned to a cinder as his blade carved through the black mass of wings and carapace. The burning scent filled his nose as he rushed towards Akki’s last known location. Every once in a while he would stop and spin, batting at the insects and using the large aura of his flaming sword to create a defence between himself and the insects. It certainly was tiring to maintain the flames, run at full speed and take swings at the insects, all while maintaining a heavy and chakra consuming armor that also caused him to exert more effort physically. Of course he had trained in such conditions before. This was his ultimate combination that he utilized together frequently whenever a battle or spar got serious and he had to pull out all the stops. Still he knew that it came with limitations and a risk of depleting himself if he kept the pair of jutsu up for too long. He didn’t have much of a choice though and it was likely he would have to push himself to utilize these jutsu longer than he ever had before.

He noted upon one moment of temporarily breaking free from the swarm that Akki had taken to cover. Likely hiding in the trees somewhere close enough to give him a full view of the situation though not expose himself directly to danger or observation. ‘Should I retreat? Make him come to me? Or persevere?’ he wondered to himself as he stood his ground for another moment, controlling his breathing deliberately in short bursts as he spun and swung as the insects, every once in a while performing another practiced crescent slash. He couldn't just stand there, that was for certain. His opponent could simply outlast him and get him to tire himself out. While it surely took considerable chakra to continuously replenish the swarm he doubted it was a faster rate of consumption than what he was currently doing and he couldn't assume that his opponent had significantly less chakra or control than himself. He could attempt to determine one more thing though, whether or not the swarm was tracking him. Deciding attacking blindly was futile Yozei reached his left hand into his pouch, dropping down a smoke grenade and running off on a 30 degree angle to his right, before stopping abruptly after 15 feet and turning again to run opposite the direction of Akki's location.

The smoke bellowed all around though he could hear the swarm closing in on him without even a moments hesitation. He was being tracked, perhaps they had aquired his scent or maybe it was the heat of his blade though there was another possibility, perhaps an insect had landed on him back when he had charged Akki the first time. It would be a difficult thing to narrow down in the heat of battle and truthfully it mattered little for the time being but the idea was in his head. Realizing that hiding would be futile he adjusted his plan, moving to an area of a rough clearing though one that still had some shrubbery and grasses in the area. He would touch his sword to the shrubs, running in a 15 feet diameter circle and lighting the area on fire with himself standing in the middle. Soon he would find himself in a ring of fire with smoke bellowing into the sky. His armor would protect him partially from the heat and for the time being he wasn't at risk of being burned directly though the swarm would have a hard time getting to him. At the very least he hoped to draw out his opponent for a closer look.
