Well gents, looks like we'll be doing our annual GOTY rewards a little differently this year. Due to my lack of time and having less opportunities to working on my art portfolio this will be more or less a discussion topic. So instead of an intensive show we'll just have a poll that goes until the next year. You can also use this template to post your faves just for fun:

Woo time to get judged for my opinions, I approve.

Downloadable Game of the Year (any console): Golf Story. Because I can't say Gunvolt Striker Pack.

GOTY on a non-Nintendo console: Persona 5.

Best Original Title: ARMS.

Best Remake/port released in 2017: Did any really come out this year? The only one I played was Skyrim and at this point I don't think that counts.

Best Script: Persona 5. For being a JRPG about the power of friendship it managed to have a ton of awesome twists and turns that I didn't expect.

Biggest surprise of the year: ARMS being an absolute blast when it originally came off as just a boring tech demo.

Biggest disappointment of the year: Honestly this year was really solid as far as games go so... The lack of localization for Monster Hunter XX, I guess?

Best amiibo of the year: Wedding Bowser.

Best F2P game of the year: Fire Emblem Heroes.

Best (hub/open) World/level in a video game in 2017: Metro Kingdom; Super Mario Odyssey. It counts as a hub world right?

Best OST of 2017: Persona 5. Super Mario Odyssey is a close second but holy shit y'all need to listen to P5's Blooming Villain track.

Most anticipated title of 2018: Monster Hunter World.

Game of the Year 2017: Persona 5.

Downloadable Game of the Year (any console):
I did not download any titles this year again I think... oh, wait, Snipperclipps. That one was awesome, so that one! Such a fun little Co-Up game, that of COURSE released physically now... need to get that.

GOTY on a non-Nintendo console:
I literally forget what good Non-tendo games I played this year. Will edit when I decide!

Best Original Title:
ARMS, probably. Very fun and creative. I guess Kingdom Battle does not count since it is built up of two existing franchises?

(NEW) Best Remake/port released in 2017:
Only one I really played is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which is just as awesome as the Wii-U version, but better. XD

Best Script:

Biggest surprise of the year:

Biggest disappointment of the year:
Horizon Zero Dawn. Very disappointing for me. Aloy was such a annoying character, and the gameplay was very wonky. The open world also had no real business being open world. You could almost literally just battle a small array of Mashine variations, those horrible human camps, or some copy-paste 'follow the glowy trail' quests. Played all but the final boss, and it was tedius.

Best amiibo of the year:
Wedding Bowser or Metroid... um... so hard to choose. D: I'll edit later!

Best F2P game of the year:
Don't think I played any this year.

Best (hub/open) World/level in a video game in 2017:
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild. Very good open world. Game did not give me the Zelda feels I crawe, but it is a amazing game with the best Open World so far I have seen.

Best OST of 2017:
Super Mario Odyssey, very varied and nice.

Most anticipated title of 2018:
Metroid Prime 4. Quote me when it releases this year! >:D

Game of the Year 2017:
Again, hard to say. Breath of The Wild or Odyssey. Will edit later!

Very good year for gaming! Being a mostly Nintendo guy, there were loads to play this year.

well here I go...

Downloadable Game of the Year (any console): Cuphead

GOTY on a non-Nintendo console: Horizon Zero Dawn

Best Original Title: Horizon Zero Dawn

(NEW) Best Remake/port released in 2017: Crash Bandicoot Nsane Trilogy

Best Script: *shrugs* Persona 5

Biggest surprise of the year: Kingdom Hearts 3 launch window (maybe)

Biggest disappointment of the year: Star Wars Battlefront 2

Best amiibo of the year: Wedding Bowser

Best F2P game of the year: now that I think about it...ziltch, really

Best (hub/open) World/level in a video game in 2017: Hyrule from BOTW

Best OST of 2017: Splatoon 2

Most anticipated title of 2018: Kingdom Hearts 3

Game of the Year 2017: Super Mario Odyssey

You know it was a good year when you can't fit in 5 games you really liked into certain categories because you already did that with 10 other games that you really liked.

99/10 year for gaming

Let's see here, I've only played 4 of the games in the poll lel and Pokemon Ultra Sun is not GOTY material.

Downloadable Game of the Year (any console): Probs Golf Story, I've only got Tumbleseed, it's an awesome game don't get me wrong but it'll only entertain someone for so many hours.

GOTY on a non-Nintendo console: uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I'll just give this one to Cuphead idk

Best Original Title: ARMS, amazing concept with an amazing cast.

(NEW) Best Remake/port released in 2017: idk Doom? Can't really say Pokken DX because they did nothing other than adding a fuck annoying birb.

Best Script: Xenoblade 2, even though I haven't even gone through half way... but IT WILL NOT DISAPPOINT

Biggest surprise of the year: I guess the Master Cycle Zero hah

Biggest disappointment of the year: Year of the Lootbox 2017

Best amiibo of the year: Wedding Peach

Best F2P game of the year: Animal Crossing Pocket Camp, it's more Animal Crossing than HHD or Amiibo Festival. I approve.

Best (hub/open) World/level in a video game in 2017: N E W D O N K C I T  Y

Best OST of 2017: Super Mario Odyssey, my company Christmas dinner was filled with Cascade Falls and Steam Gardens music because I'm a selfish prick.

Most anticipated title of 2018: Metroid Prime 4 (not sure if that is even going to make 2018)

Game of the Year 2017: Super Mario Odyssey, BOTW is a great game sure, it's extremely large and just relaxing to play through but New Donk City had me grinning like a retard the whole time I was there so that counts for something.

Breath of The Wild is a amazing game, BUT, it sadly did not give me the 'Zelda experience' I crave. I like being able to go and do whatever I want, but I honestly find more satesfaction solving a puzzle with a single solution, than just abusing things that makes it all feel like I am cheating. Breath of The Wild is so easy to abuse. Every enemy encounter gets either horribly easy, or you die from one hit no matter what you do, and I do not like that type of Difficulty. I'd rather have maybe 6 hearts and lose one or even half a heart when I get hit, and having a backup Potion if I need it. This game is a lot like Skyrim in that it makes you pause and eat loads of stuff that you take time to cook, and it just breaks up the gameplay so much for me. Or you use the Defence-Up stuff that makes even Lynels super easy.
Amazing game, but I miss the 'traditional' Zelda style. I hope at least the next Top-Down Zelda will be more traditional.

Samus Returns was awesome. The worst things about it were the very poor enemy variety (very poor, sadly), and that all the amazing creepy atmosphere was lost in favour of a more action-packed and recognizable Metroid game. This does not ruin it for me, but I do like the horror feel of the original. I think Metroid is a franchise that does well with a pitch-black background. It makes it really feel scary and alien. Still, great return of Samus (heh) and I cannot wait for Prime 4.

Horizon Zero Dawn I have already commented on a lot, it disappointed me heavily. Aloy made me really dislike her very quickly, and some open world was not good even if it was visually the  prettiest I have seen. I think the game would have been much better as a linear game instead. Also suffers from enemy variety. I am open to try the sequel if it fixes some things.

Did not play Persona (no Persona ever) and not played Assassin's Cred: Origins yet. Got it for christmas but because of trouble with a online store they sent a Xbox version instead. So I have to wait for the PS4 one to come.
Also not played Nier Automata or Xenoblade 2 yet, nor Resident Evil 7 though I have those last two. I will eventually. Skyrim on Switch is great, though. Just as hilariously bad as always, I love it.

Super Mario Odyssey was amazing, but while I understand WHY they had so many Moons, I think cutting down on them heavily and made each one at least a bit more interesting to get would have made the game so much better for me. Still, amazing Mario title and I am very glad a open Mario game still works, and I am very glad they did not make it TOO open.

Kingdom Battle was also a amazing game that seems to have done very well. It dropped in quality near the end I feel, and never really got a 'conclusion' for most things, though maybe the upcoming Story DLC will fix that. I am very much open for a sequel. Hell, do a Link and Rabbids Hyrule Battle. I mean it, do it. I don't even care anymore, I bet it would be amazingly weird in all the right way.
Have Link, Zelda, Ganondorf and Midna, and a Rabbid of all those, team up against... something. And then have a Rabbid Moon crash down onto earth with a BWAAAAA-BOOM!!

I had to make some major cuts due to there being more than 15 AAA games relesed last year. Cuphead would've been the only downloadable title too, so it was removed for consistency.

I would love to play Cuphead but I just didn't have the time, plus I have a bunch of other unfinished games in my backlog.

If you get the time I definitely recommend it. Has that old school difficulty, and like every has said, the visuals are gorgeous.

My brother and I beat it over the course of winter break and it's pretty solid in every aspect. And in a year where we had AAA games with similar production values that's saying something.

Secretly hoping 2018 sucks so I can finish my backlog of games from 2017.
