It's been a while since I've brought you all up to speed on this, so I thought it would be easiest just to start over here with a build thread of sorts. I'll just recap some of the stuff I've already been over.

So the car, it's a 1984 FWD GL wagon pretty rare as it's a five speed, and FWD, not something we got a lot of, most FWD's were autos (booo) so after letting it sit for far to long I've decided to rework it and get it to better than factory standards. Future plans as of right now are white paint, refinish my newest wheels in gold, lower it quite a bit (it sits as high as my 4x4's and there's no need). Anyway on to the pics, some of you may have seen a few of these already. But new pics have been added.
Enjoy!

The car when I got it

Solid rear wheel wells

Not so solid rockers after sitting for about 4 years

Next all the sound detaining was removed, and the welding/rust removal work began.

New rockers were fitted off form a Loyale (L series)

Floors were patched up, you can also see in this pick that the gear select has been cut down a considerable amount.

Wing mirrors were then fitted!

Next it was brought to where I work so I could weld the back side of the new rockers.

The floor was then POR-15ed top and bottom. (still have a bit of this to do)

Cheers

The rear arches were fixed (they only had minimal rust)

I even took the time to recreate the pinch welds at the bottom!

Next I built custom front and rear bumpers.

Now it's been onto body work

New wheels

Picked up some Recaro's for practically nothing (these will be getting recovered)

Due to it's west coast life it had some issues with the clear so I had to take the hood and roof down to bare metal.

Both were then primed (the whole car will be primed after body work is complete)

Then just yesterday I removed the windshield

And found more rust....

So I could remove and recover the dash

Now for the dash, the plans are to fix the cracks by adding some new foam into the bad/cracked areas, and smooth everything out using some sort of fiberglass or filler. I have found a product called flocking that's basically small sued fibers, the plans are to recover the dash in that as off right now. I'll hopefully be ordering the flocking tonight so i can get that done. I have a new window seal, and windshield on the way, and I plan on doing body work tomorrow! As for now that should bring you up to speed!

Thanks everyone. It's coming along pretty nicely now. Today I got some body work done, focused mostly on the front fenders (wings) I think I'm going to be pulling the headliner out in the next day or so as well and try and recover that right now I'm leaning toward a houndstooth pattern or a plaid, either of them would add a nice touch to the interior. I'm trying to learn a bit about interior work, and as this car has some interior issues from the hot climate it used to be in, I thought it would be a good one to learn on.

Here's a current pic as of tonight.

Worked on this a lot today. Mostly fixing a rear quarter I messed up while doing the metal work.

I accidentally made it like this...

and it was driving my crazy so I cut it and welded a new lip on it and made it look like this.

I then removed the front valence and started removing the huge dent, and some rust.

Headliner was taken out. I'm going to recover that because it's really dirty, and the color has faded quite a bit. I think I may redo it in plaid, depends what I can find for fabric I guess.

Today I wrapped my headliner, and por15ed the front fenders, valence, edges of all the doors, inner front fenders. The headliner came out pretty good for my fist one. I just hope the glue holds up!

My flocking came in so I started on the dash.
I first sanded it down with a grinder getting the high spots down

Next came the foam to fix the giant crack.

You can buy a gun to spray it on, but I used a tube applicator. You paint on the base, which reminds me a lot of model paint from scale sized cars, both in texture and in smell. After that's applied you use the tube to drift it over the surfaces. It works great. Makes a bit of a mess as you are doing it. I got all of the products for the flocking here http://www.donjer.com/ but I noticed they don't ship over seas so you would have to source the flocking elsewhere, but I would highly recommend it, with me having no idea what I was doing, it came out looking very professional.

Time for an update over here as well!

Since my last update quite a bit has happened!

I flocked some more parts including the cluster surround, and the steering column surrounds.

Put the dash back in.

Made a custom stereo surround out of metal, and then flocked it.

finished the body work and taped it all off.

And as of today it's in primer.
