the Sinbad boxset was a 6000 run so was always going to take at least a year if not longer to sell out. however, they have recently indicated that the set will sell out at their store fairly soon.

I think the only commercial DVD I've had go bad (DVD rot?) was the NIGHT OF THE DEMON/CURSE OF THE DEMON disc.  I would love to have it on BD.
edit:
I just now saw there is a UK BD of this.  I wonder if I should get it or wait for an Indicator release?

No UK BD of this that I know of, Mysto... looks like there's an Italian one , a Spanish one and the French (Wild Side?) region-free one I bought. I can tell you that, while pricey, it's probably the best looking B&W BD I own.

I'm pretty sure NIGHT OF THE DEMON is on Indicator's short list.

I'm pretty geared up about THE TINGLER. I hope Scream manages adjust the "bathtub of blood" sequence to look like blood rather than the bathtub of liquid feces we got on the DVD.

Yes, I think someone has mentioned that Indicator will have this out at some point.

I have a bootleg tape of Tingler and the bathtub scene is in full color. Castle had everything in the bathroom in either black or white except for the blood, and Judith' s makeup made her face look white. If you look closely, you can see the actress has green eyes.  The dvd and Columbia VHS modified the scene to make it truly black and white, except for the blood.

This is one of those cases where I'd have no problem with them draining the color from all but the the blood. Sure, it would be interesting to see the attempt to cloak the color manually during the shoot, but I think the intent was the shock of seeing blood in a B/W surrounding.

What I didn't like is how it came out kinda brownish on the DVD.

I have the German Blu ray of The Tingler, which will probably be the same HD source as the Scream Factory disc.  It looks excellent, except for those color inserts, which still look degraded and muddier.  Hopefully, Scream will do a remaster!

It could be at this point those shots are a miss-matched generation or two away from the elements used on the rest of the film. A difference that might have been hard to discern on VHS.

As good as most of the disc looks, I think it is from the negative. Those color inserts have probably always looked that way!

I don't recall the details, but someone who worked on a transfer of the film years ago did confirm that the color inserts were problematic and did come from a less-than-ideal element.

Sony generally does excellent work, so I can't imagine Scream Factory coming up with anything better.

In the bootleg I have, the color insert looks pretty good. Attempts to drain the color (except for the blood) by Sony  added a lot of grain to the image. Maybe Shout should leave the insert as it was. I also have a boot of The Flesh Eaters, where the finale was in color, the Dark Sky dvd rejected the insert to less that satisfactory results.

My mistake.  They had the Italian BD on the UK Amazon site and I thought it was a British release.  I'm waiting for an Indicator release.

Is it possible an Indicator Castle set is in the works or was that just a wishful thinking thing?  I have yet to start a Castle Blu Ray collection except for THE NIGHT WALKER which I've gotten recently.  Oh yeah, HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL is on one of the Price sets.
So I guess I am starting a Castle collection without realizing it.  I am itching for those cheap Mill Creeks, but if something better is brewing I can hold off.
Ditto on getting at least a DVD of LETS KILL UNCLE.

They confirmed it on Facebook, or in an interview, or something.  Not too surprising considering their relationship with Sony and fondness for releasing horror/sci-fi/fantasy.

I have a feeling that I'll end up with TINGLER and STRAIGHT-JACKET from both Scream and Indicator.

If Indicator releases the Columbia  films in order of release, the first set will contain Tingler, 13 Ghosts and Homicidal.  Don't think I 'll double dip on Ghosts, so it will be Shout for me.

I will buy every upgrade of HOMICIDAL.

I always wanted Twilight Time to do HOMICIDAL, so that we would have an audio track of Hugo Friedhofer's never-released (on LP or CD) score.  However, TT doesn't do horror for the most part.

Providing the score is out there sans dialog / sound effects.

I have the Spanish blu ray, which is probably a bootleg of the French disc.  Even that looks good!
