About 45 years ago, when I was a kid Monsterkid, my Nana mentioned seeing Lon Chaney in THE MONSTER.
It sounded like such a generic title for a horror film, that in my head, I poo poohed the idea.
Big surprise a few years later when one of the stills above appeared in THE GIFFORD BOOK.
Sorry Nana, and to think Nana took me to my first cinema film, Disney's SNOW WHITE and a lot more after
The Jonathan Rigby book and the posts above do make this sound interesting.

Forced to cook up an ad for the film before it went into production, the illustrator tried to guess what Chaney might look like in the film . . . . and missed the mark:
