The other funny thing is that the destroying ray Zolok subjects Bruce to in chapter 11 is actually an invention of Manyus'. Wait a minute - why would a kindly old, peace loving scientist create such a sadistic torture device in the first place?

Appolyn has got to be one of the most  flamboyant henchman in cinema history

The guy is pretty much a 1930's Freddy Mercury.

I've been watching this one and it is one crazy flick, to be sure. If you have a character in the Lost City who is a villain, wait for a little bit, and they will often become heroic... or go back to being villains again. Zolok is completely inept at taking over the world too; the whole plot is that he's threatening the planet but by the time the heroes arrive on the scene it's clear that Zolok can barely turn on his TV screen to watch impotently as his every plan goes south.

One other thought about this crazed serial: star Kane Richmond really looked in the film like a Doc Savage cover brought to life, the classic pre-Bama covers from the original pulps. Did his facial features and outfit in this serial get used as source material for any of the classic Doc Savage pulp covers?
