Agreed. The trailer makes it appear to have practically zilch to do with the original story, too.

This makes the Ron Howard film look good.

Hmm.
The voice doesn't work. A gripe I have with some "celebrity" voices in animated movies these days is that the actors use their everyday speaking voices without any character added for the medium. Regular human voices and speech patterns seem out of place to me amid such fantastical surroundings. From the trailer it looks like there ill be a bunch of dirty deeds and gross out gags in place of comedy.

This is better than the Ron Howard film.
I know why, it is because the live-action film is enough to make Dr. Suess spin in his grave.
