Well you got Griffith directing and Menjou and Cortez starring, a sure fire hit. Think again. Although the acting was good this was an overly melodramatic bore. You know the Faust story so I'll save you the time reading it,  the last 5 minutes were the only saving grace when Menjou reveals his true identity. No one likes a devil who finds redemption even temporarily.  Darn and I was looking forward to this one.

I think this is the image which I saw in FM (or something) long before seeing the movie...

satan 1.jpg ...and after soaking in that image for years and years, then, yes, the movie itself was damn disappointing.

You're probably right, Don. I have a feeling that there was a shot in FM at some point, but a different one.
