TODAY'S MONSTER BASH PHAN FOTO: Very eerie, very creepy...it's a set scene from STRANGLER OF THE SWAMP (1946). Amazing what the PRC crew did with interior sets on this one. Love ol' Charles Middleton as the ghost strangler too.

Yep, STRANGLER OF THE SWAMP is a good one, very atmospheric. It's my second favorite Poverty Row horror film after THE DEVIL BAT.

Great shot. I wonder who designed it. The set, I mean. More great atmosphere on a budget: Edgar Ulmer's Detour. Minimalist and yet in a strange way more effective because of it. The damn highway feels claustrophobic. Even the night sky seems to be closing in, like a giant spiderweb. 😨

DETOUR is my second favorite Noir after DOUBLE INDEMNITY, & in part because of the reasons you mentioned. Ulmer created a masterpiece/near masterpiece on three sets.

STRANGLER OF THE SWAMP is the other great PRC film. A lot of their movies are great fun to watch, but don't approach the level of those two.

I've yet to see Strangler Of The Swamp,--great title 😱--and it gets straight to the point, eh?
