Hi All,

Both Perfect Scale Modelbau (PSM) and Inside the Armour have a few new Leopard items available:

PSM:
35112 Leopard 1A5 Turret
http://www.perfect-scale.de/Conversion- ... urret.html
35113 PZB 200
http://www.perfect-scale.de/Conversion- ... B-200.html

Inside the Armour:
35071 Modern German Tool Clamps
35077 Leopard 2 Suspension Upgrade

Also check out the nice looking 2A5 and 2A6 barrels that are temporarily withdrawn from sale on the Inside The Armour website:http://www.insidethearmour.com/Leopard.html

I have no connection with the above two companies other than being a satisfied customer and Leopardaholic.

Cheers,

I hope we see more details under the add-on armour on the turret.

I wonder if the proper mounts have been replicated or if it is the same as the Italeri and Revell-Germany kits?

Hi Jason,

I was thinking the same thing when I saw it announced. However, there are a few shots on the PSM website that clearly show it has the proper mounting bosses.

Cheers,

Chris

I'm going to ask you because you seem to be very knowledgeable on this area was this used by Canada? or is it someone elses way of extending the life of the turret. Just curious if its something I may wish to pick up in the future. My interest lies in Canadian equipment and items that I can say could have been type thing.

thanks

Yes, the armour is part of the basic Leopard C2 turret.

The Canadian Leopard C2 turret is essentially just a German Leopard 1A5 turret with modifications for Canadian use. The add-on armour was removed on the rear of the turret to fit the Canadian stowage bin.

The add-on rubber/steel mesh armour was designed in Germany by Blohm and Voss. It was part of an upgrade program on the German Leopard 1A1 back in the mid 1970s and used to create the Leopard 1A1A1. The armour package was retained on the German Leopard 1A5. It was an easy solution to increasing armour protection. It was not used on the Leopard 1A2 as the cast turret on the 1A2 has thicker cast armour than the 1A1.
