Thanks Lenn. I really enjoy supporting the L&B and have been fortunate to be able to join and contribute to the 762 Club. I will share more pictures soon and sort some short videos.

At its opening in May 1898, the legendary narrow-gauge Lynton & Barnstaple Railway in North Devon was equipped with three Manning Wardle 2-6-2 tank engines. Two months later they were joined by a Baldwin 2-4-2 which was reassembled at Pilton. All four locomotives were named after three-letter Devon rivers. The Baldwin was named 'LYN' but commonly referred to by the staff as 'The Yankee'. When the Southern Railway took over the line in 1923, they also gave LYN a number: E (For Eastleigh - the Southern shed Pilton was attached to) 762.

The Lynton & Barnstaple Railway ran its last train on the 29th September, 1935 and LYN, along with YEO, EXE, and TAW were sadly reduced to scrap at Pilton yard. LEW survived the blowtorches and was used to dismantle the track, before being shipped to South America and an uncertain fate. LYN was sold to J.Cashmore Ltd for £50 and broken-up almost immediately on site; only a headlamp and a water gauge protector survived the scrapman.

The 762 Club - a registered charity - was formed in 2009 to design, construct, own and maintain a replacement Baldwin 2-4-2 - also named LYN of course - for operation on the new Lynton & Barnstaple Railway. Some eight years later, LYN is now complete and was launched at the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway Gala on 30 September 2017.

LYN was officially named by Sir William MacAlpine at a short ceremony on Friday 29th September, 2017 followed by the first passenger specials for 762 Club members and invited guests. The locomotive then went into passenger service over the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway Gala weekend 30/09/17-01/10/17

I was lucky enough to take a footplate ride by special invitation and wanted to share this short video from the driver and fireman's perspective from Killington Lane to Woody Bay 30/09/17.

On it's first day in service more than 1000 passengers were carried. What a magnificent sight and incredible achievement for the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway!

Absolutely marvelous!

A shame they'll never be able to fully re-open the entire line, but even what they've achieved so far is quite remarkable, considering how long ago the line was closed.
