Hi all  🙂

P.S. Malins has few anniversaries ending in 8, just a couple of flat bases where introduced in 1948 and some colour printed cartons. However in 1978 a lot of models received the updated boilers with a sight glass to satisfy German regulations of the time. (Mercer has yet to catch up.)

I will therefore be doing a table celebrating this important event, and exhibiting my collection of 1978 engines, however there will be room for more. I have the stationary engines, marine engine and car, however I don't have a blue steam wagon, nor a standard roller with a sight glass, (mine has a brass boiler). I have a TE with a sight glass, but I am not sure of the vintage.

If you have one of these models, especially ones near 1978, I would be most enthusiastic to host it and I will do you a label to celebrate.

Many Thanks 🙂

I have a blue wagon which has not yet melted the pesky sight glass but has been converted to 3 1/2 inch rail track. Interested?

It would be an impoverished STIA without it Fred.
No 3 1/2" track this year then? 😕

We usually have the 3 1/2 inch track at the January Meccano event but our overlords have decided that it is too much trouble to hold the event  and anyway the space we used on the beam floor is no longer considered safe for live steam (or visitors).I have my eye on a possible outdoor site but it's usually cold enough around the pool.

Very old 🙂

I would have said that most of mine don't have them as I bought a lot second hand, but I have a good number of tatty "modern" engines in a box. 😶
