Well last weekend was a momentous occasion, the first time I have steamed my steam launch. I was hoping to have her in steam at the last STL, but leaking tubes put paid to that! So after a retube the boiler is back in the boat, and plumbed in, so I had to light a fire in it...

A few minor leaks to attend to, plus the safety valve needs adjusting, but she runs nicely!

A long overdue update! I have finally got the boiler certified! Yay! She will be making her maiden voyage/debut at the Moira Canal Festival on the Ashby Canal this weekend!

See here:

If anyone fancies coming along you are welcome to a short cruise on the boat, and/or a cup of tea if I get the Windermere kettle sorted out, although it will have to fit around the festival activities. Looks like the weather may still be good!

Well unfortunately she did not make her debut at Moira because the car broke down and I could not find anything to tow her with.

However the car is now fixed and she has finally had her first test run!

A very successful test run, she seems quite lively!

A very small list of snags - one small water leak on a feed pipe, and the coupling was not clamped on to the propshaft tightly enough. Started to slip when the prop got wrapped up in weed...

I suppose there are a few glands on the engine which could do with sealing better too, but for the moment they add 'character'  :D

It is the Rutland water steam show this weekend, and she will definitely be there for that!

Congratulations on the maiden voyage of your steam launch.

Good luck at the Rutland show.

I hope you can post a longer video when you steam it at the show.
