I have had this engine stored away for some time as I didn't really like the look of it. Gave it some thoughts and made a new wooden base and some repairs to  leaking sight glass. Much happier with the proportions of it now 🙂
Hope to have it running on live steam soon, so far I tested on compressed air and it looks promising.
Interesting feature is the drain plug at the bottom of the boiler, strange that not more engines use this?

Happy modification, Peter ... :-)

Proportions are just perfect now ...

An interesting engine ... any idea of the maker ?

It's a scratch build. As I remember it was done by a crafts school teacher in north of Sweden.

Very nice engines deserve very nice baseplates.

The drain plug at the bottom of the boiler is a nice feature, it's odd indeed that it's not a common feature.

The new base improves the appearance immensely.

I saw a real engine of this type for sale in Danville, Pennsylvania.

Science owes more to the steam engine than the steam engine owes to science.
