The recently restored E. Humphries portable engine of 1850 and bandsaw at the Great Dorset Steam Fair this year. This was her first time on show since the GDSF portable engine special in 1995 as a wreck.

A friend and I bought a pair of Reader enclosed high speed steam engines a few years ago. This one had a bent crank which was welded up and re-machined and the piston rod had been cut off so a new one was made.

Low speed test run:

High speed test run (with pumped lubrication system fully operational and covers in place) doing 1000RPM:

I'm intending to make an acrylic set of covers for the engine to allow it to be seen in operation...

Petri - they were intended as stationary steam engines (our two came out of a gas works) but we've got them mounted in this trolley temporarily to make it easy moving about. We intend to mount onto a more period looking trolley eventually...

We've a kit of parts for another Reader like this for sale by the way...

It's small enough to work as slightly portable on the trolley. Good size for temporary needs.
