Hi David, its been a while but a wee update just to prove I havna chucked the towel in
She now runs n pumps on a simple two wick meths burner and just needs a few domed knuts making and a lick of paintย
So after a few years swearing and much wasted time here she isย
A poor video of her clunking away

Another showing the throttle valve

Cheers

Wonderful progress. ย

I have heard that these 1/4 scale Rider Ericssonโ€™s are a challenging build.ย

Congratulations on your perseverance.ย

And thank you for sharing the pictures and video.ย

Ohhh.... Mate! ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

I'm so pleased, you've finally triumphed. And, transformed a sow's purse, into a silk ear. ๐Ÿ˜‰

It just goes to show. These orphans, are rarely a lost cause. They just need to be adopted, by the right Savior.......

Blummin, WELL DONE!! ๐Ÿ‘

Incidentally....... Look what arrived, the other week.......

David.

Many thanks gentlemen
Hi David, now that looks a canny new toy and should keep you busy. Is it a runner or does it need the magic touch and what size is she
Still a good way to go on this one what with the never ending fettling of the castings I think theres another engine in the swarf bin
Need to make a cross slide adjustable stop and a few form tools then onto the nuts
She is going to be painted as the original engine just black below the cylinder and cherry red above just not sure about lining it out .The base will probably be either oak boards or brick just not sure yet and dragging my feet a wee bit as she needs stripping right down yet again.
Just cannot believe how much time has gone into it although fun in a masochistic way .The whole geometry has had to be altered due to the original builders error and more than a few errors in the original design small wonder the drawings show a 5thou clearance on most of the bushes. The beam has been machined from stock its surprising what you can find hidden in a lump of alloy. The main bearing housing now has three ball bearings fitted and have yet to remove the seals although I may leave them in .She will run better once I get round to making some gaskets and fit the piston packingย
Keep well
cheers
