On our old boards we could close the browser altogether and the from history re-open to the same place with all your not yet published work still intact.

My point is there must be a proper protocol to follow to avoid this trap.
I have had to re-write several lengthy posts due to this error and would like to avoid it going forward. If anyone knows this protocol please publish here.
You can open a new tab in your browser if you want to side-track elsewhere while editing. I always used to do this even with the old MFF.
Hi Roly, I have been opening other tabs and windows. Sometimes I don't even leave the page and accidently trip something else and the page either changes or wipes out my work and if it changes and I go back one the work that should be there is gone.

We have been through worse. At least it was not like the previous 'migration'. Once upon a time there was an official Mamod forum. Then without warning they pulled the plug and there was nothing, no forum at all, everything was gone. Yet not only did we survive we thrived, thanks to James and the team. This is a minor hiccup compared to some things we have been through....
It's a Mamod Jim, but not as we know it!

Well said Ian.👍

Not only did we survive, but we got rid of the trolls and the hatemonger that caused the closure in the first place.

The thread below explains it in detail.

For someone like myself born in the era of happily using logarithmic tables and a  slide rule  all this  ever changing digital age  computer stuff is a trifle trying to say the least. As soon as I get used to using something it changes again.
Be that as it may, I shall sally forth and attempt to come to terms with this new platform.
One thing that particularly grieves me is the loss of photographs, videos and STWWW archive material.
Thank you Forum Team for keeping the show on the road.

I found something that is actually an improvement: you can mute "foes" here! (and manage friends or something)

(Not sure how muted persons knows they're muted...)

In the upper right, select your forum name and then choose the first option in the drop down.
It is the User Control Panel. Then select the last tab on the right which is manage friends and foes or something like that.
If you make someone a foe you will only see part of their posts. They are still able to pm you and such. My guess is they won't know they are on your foe list but I cannot be sure.

I don't see that as a brilliant feature! Aren't we meant to all be friends here.

It sounds like blocking someone, like you do on Facebook. 🤔
Jon
