Okay, so, new wicks and the running problems with my 52R are solved. It is not the strongest runner in the world, and I must say the burner even with new wicks was not trouble free. However, it was much better. Witness my success if you wish!

Very nice video as usual.    🙂    When you say it's not a strong runner, it may be because it's running on too lower pressure, as when you opened the whistle, it slowed down immediately. I noticed that the whistle leaked steam when closed, and what looked like a leak on the solder joint of the steam pipe entering the reversing block. Maybe this is the reason it lacked grunt.     🐷🐷😄

Yes Chris I think you're right. It has a few leaks. I'll have to fix them. Thanks for your positive review of the video!

Hi John,
Very nice video.  Lovely little engines when they get going.

Thanks Pete. I have developed a real liking for it. The design is quite special, the little conical finial on the safety valve, the layout, all somewhat special. It was a great buy!

Thats much better John , the whistle may be scaled up a bit and ruining your note..give it soak for an hour in vinegar then rinse well that may cure it.. i got a Mamod whistle to work by using that method.
All said and done John it was a nice find and now a very good runner...Steve

I feel it should do a bit better. It's a very nice engine though and in beautiful condition.

Nice looking engine. I always find half the fun of any of these engines is the tinkering and little repairs to get them to run their best.

Cheers,
Eriks
