Hi everyone,

Another first for the forum ... and the internet ... videos of some rather exotic C.K. boats sailing at STL.

The first video is of the large C.K. Whizz Powered Pop Pop boat.  Both this and the smaller version have spheres rather than coils or diaphragms for the 'engine' and uses small meths burners for the heat source.  This big pop pop boat took a while to get going but once did she sailed really well.

The next video shows the smaller version of the C.K Whizz Powered pop pop boat.  This little boat goes like the clappers and just runs and runs.

This is the C.K. clockwork diving submarine.  Unfortunately the pond wasn't long enough for the sub to do it's dive and surface thing ... but was great fun chasing the wooden Bowman boats.

Finally, a large tin plate steam boat of unknown origin.  It has a lot of design features that are similar to other C.K. steam boats, such as the elliptical shaped boiler and lead flywheel.  However, the boat and boiler have no markings at all.  It has an usual hook arrangement for coupling the prop shaft to the engine drive shaft ... which often disengages when under steam.

That submarine is awesome, i can't believe I missed that! It was very good to see the pool being so well used this year. I will try to make it bigger next year if it would be of benefit to you boat boys?

Hi James,
Yeah you missed a real treat with the submarine.  Clock work is the in thing now ... steam has had it's day 😀

A slightly bigger pond would be great but I think you are rather limited for space round the back of the chimney block.

Cheers

Pete
