On Carson and Obama, people here are reading only what they want to hear or read. There was no contradiction whatsoever between Obama and Carson. If anything Obama's statement was short and vague. Carson might have come out to clarify US Policy. It is not Obama's or Carson's Policy. US is not governed like Kenya where an individual in power says what they think and it becomes Law

The West knows that should the Kenyans even begin to imagine that they can thrive without Washington, London, and Paris, it will be their end in E.Africa. Kibaki showed them a taste of what it means to only have "essential contact". Their ambassadors were constantly crying about how they weren't getting any business for their mother countries because the Kibaki government did not waste time with their stories. Yet Kenya continued to thrive and develop forwards. A Jubilee government will further minimise the influence these Western nations have in Kenya and this is what is giving them nightmares. No access to oil in the region (South Sudan - Uganda - Kenya axis). No military bases to monitor their Islamic enemies in the region and no military contracts to skim off the lewd profit.
Kenya is right back to where it was in the 60s and 70s. On one side you have the West trying to sell their heartless capitalism and on the other side you have the East that has since shown that they know a thing or two about development. I do understnd that Kenya needs to operate with all beneficial countries, but these relationships should be based on mutual respect and not a master-slave platform. Foreign policies can be adjusted to suit mutual interests and that is why the US still maintains relations with the highly oppressive regimes in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia - OIL, OIL, OIL.
I believe that Kenya is at a cross-roads in determining its destiny. Either stand up and take charge of your country, or relinquish yourselves to the chains of servitude that your forefathers shed their blood to free you from. The choice is yours
