Hi
I have the KK (?) turret for the Crusader - but could I put it on a Tamiya Centaur or Cromwell ?

Cheers

I only know of the prototypes. I have never heard or read about one being deployed.

On the wall in the Bayeux museum is a large photo of a British vehicle dump which contains a variety of interesting kit including what appear to be 20mm AA turrets on A27 hulls. The location was not stated but I did post a photo of it here a few years ago.

Didnt I include a photo of one in the NAMES Chapter? Or is my memory playing me false? DT

In my notes I have reference to them being issused to the Welsh Guards 2nd battalion. I think my source was Tom at Milicast but I've never been able to get to the War Diaries to confirm. They were the Reconnaissance regiment for the Guards Armoured Division in NWE. The 1st Battalion were in the same division, as infantry, as part of 32nd Guards Brigade.

One picture that appears to show a Centaur AA named Hotspur taken in a vehicle dump actually shows a Crusader AA behind a turretless Cromwell hull.

Dick,
The brain pan is still working. It's on page 57. Hard to tell what platform it's on though from that photo. You would think the they would have backed off a wee bit more so we modelers could get a better look.

That looks like the photo Nicholas is refering to. Hotspur in the background with a turretless Centaur in the foreground.
If you look closely you can see the Crusader driver's hatches open just to the left and front of the turret.

I thought I had read that they were only used as part of the coastal AA barrage against flying bombs.

esp as the engines were poor, and only Centaur 95 are known to have been definitely used in action.

So could set up a dio / model as used in Wartime, UK only...

But markings and colour ?

Thanks.
