Can anyone please help me with the correct colour scheme for a US-based M983, Pershing II missile and its trailer? The kit instructions advise olive drab, but I have read of the M983 being painted in disruptive woodland camo (NATO Green, Brown & Black) with the trailer in Forest Green.

Once again, Google has not been my friend when it comes to finding mages of the M983 and trailer together.

Thanks in advance for any help.
Cheers,
Mark

Looks to be in 34079 Forest Green.

Did you find this walkaround?

Thanks, Gary,

I had found another trailer walk-around, but your link offers more images. I still need to find out about the M983 tractor unit's colour scheme.
Cheers,
Mark

It would have been NATO 3 color.

They used the Man in Germany. The HEMTT family of vehicles started fielding in the mid `80s. Supposedly State side units used the M983, and that's what he asked about. Granted, the only pic I can find of one is in a museum.

Somebody must have some data mixed up, Pershing II was only stationed in Germany and not stateside (except for training purposes) or elsewhere. Even photos taken at the school in Fort Bliss show MAN tractors for the Pershing II, not the M983.

As for phasing out before the M983 was introduced, that does not even work out for Pershing I, which was available until 1989, but of course used different launch vehicles. The last Pershing IIs were gone by May 1991, and the HEMTTs entered service from 1982, so there would have been enough time for the M983 to tow the Pershing II, if they had been allocated to Pershing II batteries.

Safest bet for an M983 would be a Patriot launcher, as the BGM-109G GLCM also used the MANs.
