Here is my almost ready-for-paint M4.  Dragon Normandy kit with turret from M4 composite.  It will have T-48 tracks with duckbills.  Just need to tack down the tow cable, add rope to rear stowage and order some Archer casting numbers tomorrow.

Something looks off, I think you have a M4A4 hull on a M4A1/M4A3 chassis. The A4 chassis is longer with more space between bogies. Are those 3d printed light guards?

The angle makes it look weird and without the idlers there is a lot of space there.  Those are the Shapeways light guards.  I hate photoetch and they are easy but a little thick.

I agree that it does look wierd, but it's obviously an M4 hull and not an A4.  Trick of the lens.

I have several Shapeways bits and bobs for M4s, and I have to agree that the light guards are disappointingly thick and still need some clean-up.  No real advantage over the kit parts IMHO.  Most of their other parts are really nice, although the full-width slatted exhaust deflectors arrived warped.  I have some of their periscope guards, but they are incredibly fragile.

Out of interest, why did you swap the turret and are you sure it came from the Composite?  I have the PTO Composite kit in my stash and the one thing it doesn't have is a no-loader's-hatch turret.  The 2 turret shells in mine are LB and HB but both with loader's hatches - representing mid and late Composite production.  You need an LB no-hatch turret like the one here for an early Composite.

The hull here is representative of an ALCO-built tank from Jul-Dec 43, so a no-pistol-port no-loader's-hatch turret like this is the appropriate configuration.

Nice to see that you've added straps over the hanging rails: many people overlook the fact that soft stowage needs to be attached to something, not just glued on.  But you will need to do the same for the rear deck stowage: it needs to be strapped/tied down.

Hi Pete,
You guys got me all worried now but I went and looked and the idler lines up with the grouser storage cover.
On the Shapeways stuff I've used the guards and "venetian blind" and M4A2 late exhaust deflectors.  This tank originally started out to be a calliope but I got so burned out that I stopped.  It is from the composite kit but I filled in the pistol port and loader's hatch but kept the cheek armor.  I had it laying around.  Its lucky I had 2...the other I will be using for a soviet M4A2 with the hatch and port.

Gears' looking good, good contrast.  I like the texture on the turret, too.

Cheers, Ski.

Here are some better shots with some pigment work done.  I am still relatively new at using them so suggests are nice.  I still have some touch up to do.  Im putting T48s with extended end connectors on it...I think pigments only on the eec's.  Opinions?
