To Flat coat or not

I've read different articles about using pigments. Some people apply a flat coat after done and some don't. I would think that a flat coat would wash down the pigments. What's your opinion.

Also, it evens out the glosses of different paints, giving you a uniform lustre to your finished kit.

Works for me, hope it does for you, too.

As flat coats on top of pigments tend to make them disappear or reduce their effect. However you can use this to your advange too if you over do it. Plus you can build up some layers of pigments slowly that way. If you just mist on a clear coat without heavily wetting the pigments the loss or effect is much less.

You can also mix pigmetns with clear flat and airbrush them on.
