Hello all,

The 503 recived their Tigers in autum 1944. From the Sennelager pics we know that there
was a mix of zimmerited and later versions without. Tiger 213 is one without Zimmerit but also without ambush camo - do you think this is right ? Can someone tell which version BEF Tiger I was ? Zimmerit or not ? Ambush or not ?

Kindest regards Kay

Hi,

This Befehlspanzer belonged to s.Pz.Abt.509 not 503, so it was finished in the factory scheme without zimmerit.

Cheers

Hello Peter,

Sorry about this - was my fault. What do think about 213 ? Three tone camo without zimmerit ?
May this is the same tank like this ?

Kay, this mix not new.
Well known Tiger II from ss501 has factory camo without dots. Also Tiger II Nr 213 from 503 FHH (same?) was published on clear photos in AFV vol.1http://www.tiif.de/thread.php?threadid= ... 00d12ac802 .
Most probably Henschel have some period between August and October when they used not classic factory scheme on Tigers B.

213 has no zimmerit as far as i can see.

I'm modelling the white wash Befehlspanzer at the moment so i have been looking at that photo for weeks now. There were only 10 Befehlstigers made post zimmerit(New Vangard King tiger chart page 17) You can tell this one is post zimmerit because the jack has been deleted on the rear plate and the long fuel vent pipes are present.
