Hi all,
Here's a selection of sprue-shots of Tamiya's forthcoming 1:48 Matilda - grey plastic because it's a pre-production kit. Kit preview on the way in TMMI 201, to followed by a full-build as soon as possible!
Cheers,
Marcus

I especially like the turret roof with the circular roof plate shown, something missing on the old Bandai kit of the Matilda. However, the one-piece molding of the suspension components will make it very difficult to convert this model to the earlier BEF Matilda with the lowered suspension, as there is no detail at all above the outer bogie truck frames. It's not needed for the standard height suspension, but the lowered BEF suspension exposed the upper bogie attachment structures and these are missing. So, save an old Bandai Matilda for the suspension parts if you want to do a BEF Matilda.

Hi!

I can't say anything about accuracy. I'm not a Matilda expert at all, and it is not my main point when buying a kit (I have two Matildas preordered since it was announced...) but moulding seems to be top class. I love the casting textures and the look of all the bolts, hinges, etc.

If I must judge from the photos, I would say it is a real winner...

Cheers!

Tamiya has screwed up again with the camouflage, wrong colours and pattern. They just repeated the errors from their 1/35 kit, again.

Mike, could you contact me off-line at fatdog2sillyass01@gmail.com? I plan to get at least one of these kits and I'd love to have some info on the correct colours/pattern for the counter scheme.

Thanks in advance, and Cheers, Pat
