Hi Guys,

Some time ago, I started this Tamiya T-34/76, one of my characteristics like modeller, is my way to work, usually I start a project, and sometimes I shelve the project until new ideas or the need to finish a model push me to finish it.

This time, two reasons have the boost for the finish, I like a lot to do a 1/48 model and AMT Show is very near, and I like to participate in the quarter scale section.

I rescue the model, and this weekend I'm working on it, my latest post about it in this forum is:
http://www.network54.com/Forum/527528/m ... +Late+1942

Now I'm painting the model, I choosed a winter polish version:

For the color patch I made this easy test.

I convert it to black and white:

I think a dark green is OK, LOGICAL.

Now the model:

In this stage I paint the whitewash, with enamel and partially removed before completely dry:

I worked the surface with oils and little retouches with white acrylics:

I will paint now the chipping and the wheels.

I hope you like it.

Best Regards All.

The whitewash with enamel and partially removed trick is great, as always, but especially i love it in this 1/48 scale model
I hope to see it in a Vignette as soon as possible...
Un abrazo Amigo!!!

JQN~,

The model is going really well, but that is NOT surprising coming from you.

I am super happy to see this one running again after the long interval, but I know the ending result is well worth the loooooong wait.

- - - - - - - -

Regarding the color thing --> food for thoughts

I enjoy you test and I really appreciate your efforts to bring some light to hard to say question. I do not know what I would make in your place, and actually after seeing how your model is going I do not mind so much if grenn is -or not- the right choice because I like it a lot anyways.

But there are two good reasons to have a reasonable doubt too:

1> Polish National colours are white and red, so red could be a very valid background shade for a white insignia.

2> You also knwo slightly different shades to the ones you used can produce quite different results. I took the freedom to play a bit with image and see what happened... quite confussing, right?

Maybe at the end the white insignia was painted over a flat black patch?

Anyways, thanks for taking the time to dive into those matters.

Great work, and gald to have you here amigo.

I've been doing a lot of whitewash finishes myself lately and I say this is nearly perfect. Wonderful work as always JQN, and I really appreciate the efforts you do for the correct colors.

Can't wait to see the final piece. Thanks for sharing and the inspiration.

Best,

Mike

Amigo;

It's been too long since we have seen one of your master pieces, my friend. I will be watching this with keen interest, I am very intrigued by your use of enamel white for the whitewash, I have been thinking about this for a winter tank I want to do soon.

I am eager for more, Mate!

Cheers, Pat
