Many WW2 Soviet tanks carried hull side spruce unhitching logs - I want to add one to my Trumpeter KV.

Anybody have knowledge/scratchbuilding experience in making such a spruce log?

I have some idea of how to proceed but would enjoy seeing any other efforts.

Thanks for all help offered,

JG

I've used wooden dowels, in the past.

I meant to inquire about BIRCH logs and it came out "spruce."

Thanks, Matt, for your info.

I'm playing with carving suitable width sprues to indicate hewn limbs.

the dowels receive stains quite well. You would just have to paint the putty to effect.
