Question on markings new Miniart T-55A LATE MOD. 1965 kit

I have seen that the upcoming Miniart  T-55A kit with interior which they call T-55A Late MOD 1965 (kit nr 37023) contains a number of Afghan vehicles.
Has anyone got/seen any pictures of the vehicles depicted in the kit? Google has certainly not been my friend. Most tanks operated in Afghanistan that I have been able to find seem to be T-54s with a number of T-55s as well as the odd Type 69 thrown in, but hardly any of the type depicted in the kit. Is it me or is the type of T-55 depicted in this kit extremely uncommon in Afghanistan? I have only found pictures of 3 different vehicles that seem to be the type depicted in the kit and none of them matches the vehicles in the kit.

Anyone know any sources of pictures or how common this type is in Afghanistan?

Thanks in advance,

I. Baeten

Hi
I found plenty of photo of this kind of T55A (without DSHK) in RAIDS french magazines issues.
This T55A with late tracks were given to northern Alliance in the 90 by Russians and on photos there're more common than T54/55/A with old tracks.
The Miniart kit is incredible: accuracy, level of detailling (even the exterior).
Hopes this help

Hi Stephane,
Thanks for the reply. I will look into the Raid magazine. Would you be able to recommend any specific issues of this magazine?

I am aware that the Northern Alliance was given a number of tanks by the Russians in the 90s. You are right about the tracks; the RMSh tracks can be found on many Afghan T-54 and T-55 tanks. The original OMSh tracks seem to be much rarer on Afghan vehicles. But what seems to be very uncommon in the pictures that I have seen are T-55s with the radiation protection as is visible on the hatches of the type depicted in the kit. Hence my question.

Best regards,

You're right it's difficult to find T55A with antiradiation on the hatches. If the tank you wanted to build don't have it i thinks that you'll have to get aftermarket stuff (miniarm?) or spare parts from a Takom or Tamiya kit.
For Raids, i have a 28 years old collection and i'm not abble to give you the number issues i saw the photos (and i hadn't in mind the antiradiation hatches) so ... i'm sorry.

Hi Stephane,

No worries. I had found the image that you linked to. I think I have saved that one and I think I have a second image of that same vehicle taken at that same time. I might indeed have to look for aftermarket parts although that still would pose a problem for the interior as that is also clad with an anti-radiation lining inside the turret I seem to remember from looking at the instructions online. Well, a bit more digging to do it seems.
