I'm a bit unsure where to post this but as it relates to details seen shortly after WW2 someone here might know the answer:

The Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) monthly internal magazine is asking for information regarding markings seen on the front of some tanks and at least one Scammel Pioneer with the words 'SLAVE' and 'POWER', one above the other seperated by a horizontal line. This is on a circular white or yellow patch about the same size at the bridge classification marking. At least one picture has been identified as being BAOR (Germany), 22 Armoured Brigade shortly after the end of WW2. There is an assumption that it relates to 'slave starting' the vehicles but no details exist on exactly what they mean.

Any ideas or 'solid' information on this?

TIA Ian.
