Hi, I haven't been to Armorcon for a few years, so I don't know how much small scale there will be, but its a good show.  I would recommend it if you have some spare time.  Its AMPS judging if you feel like entering something.  One of the plus of the AMPS system is that the judges provide written comments on what they liked and what could be done a bit better for each entry.

Hi
For those interested I have used the MP Zimmerit sets in 1/48 and found them very good. Here’s what I found works for me.

Thickness
I find them a little over scale thickness so I reduced the thickness by sanding and scraping the reverse side till I essentially just left the Zimmerit left. This I feel give it a better look.

Gluing
I used MEK but others have used TET. I placed the  Zimmerit section on the kit and brush on MEK. This soaks through and softens the plastic and the MP sheets then bond with the plastic giving a very hard durable finish. I apply one section at a time and glue is setting I star on the adjoining section.

I primed my kit in Tamiya spray grey primer before applying the MP sheets and found it works great. The MEK softens the paint and plastic again giving a great bond.

Also dry fitting before gluing is recommended.

Hope this helps
Andrew
Note photos may not be in order of application as I’m struggling to find a system that posts the photos in order. This was my 5th attempt

Yes, thanks Mark for posting about the new zimmerit set.  I've been busy trying to get a couple of other sets ready to send to the Danbury show, so I haven't been able to post here until now.  Rob Norton will be at our table at ArmorCon and will have some inventory of any new zimmerit sets we have, in 1/35, 1/48 and 1/72 scales. All of the new sets I had at IPMS in Phoenix and more that I've been working on since.

I've never been to the show since I'm on the west coast, so I can only go by what Rob reports over the years and his willingness to set up the table.  I know Rob is optimistic about a good turnout this year.

And thank you Andrew for your photos and tips on using the 1/48 scale zimmerit.  I should let everyone know that I use a thinner paper for the 1/72 scale sets.  They are more fragile and are as thin as I dare to make them.  Hopefully someone will post some photos of a finished PZ IV here and their experience using the zimmerit.
