M103 in camouflage ?

M103 in camouflage ?

Hi,

Does anyone if this photo is original paint camo on M103 ?
Any more info about this ? Thanks in advance.

You have to be careful with US Display tanks in Army Museums. Usually they are painted by a Detail from the maintenance units and that's why in the 80's you might see a Sherman painted in MERDC, or today a M48 in the NATO 3 color it never wore in Service. (I was once on a detail in Ft. Hood,Texas to do just that. And My Sgt didnt care that I knew the camo was wrong, he was told to do it).

We had two M24 Caffee tanks guarding the entrance to our kaserne in Germany, we last painted them in gloss clear coat over OD! Don't trust what you see!
