I just spotted this link on the MLU Forum showing RAOC personnel applying Caunter camouflage by hand and spray gun in Egypt in 1940. There is very interesting footage showing a variety of British softskins and armoured cars.

What a great find - Mike Starmer will love this ! Thanks also to Augusto for posting the file number.

The most interesting aspect to me is the sequence showing a number of Guy armoured cars in the Caunter scheme. I knew that they served in small numbers with 11th Hussars during Op. Compass (alongside the better-known Morris CS9 & Rolls Royce armoured cars) as the regimental War Diary makes various references to them. However, this is the first time that I have seen any imagery of them in the Caunter scheme. The film also shows a Daimler Scout Car in for painting.

Thanks again, gentlemen

Hi Neil
Fascinating little film. To think of all the effort we put in to make our finishes neat and there they are, just blasting away with no masking or anything! No consideration for the poor modelmaker at all.

Thanks for posting it up.

All the best

Hi guys,
I see you have missed the link I've posted back in November 2013 here:

I also see some of you didn't miss it one year later :

However, the documentary is so good that it deserves reposting every month.
Cheers!

We're all getting older and our memories aren't as sharp as they used to be

It is essential viewing for anyone wishing to depict a vehicle with Caunter camouflage. Perhaps Paul could post the link in the tips sticky.

Cheers
