I'll be in Poland in late April, and am looking for hobby shops in Warszawa. I know that the JADAR shop is not to be missed, but are there any others I need to see?
Dzekuje!

But remember that not everything that they offer on their web pages is available directly in the shop. My advice: order on-line what you want and use the option of taking your order from the shop.

Cheers

I haven't been to it for several years, but the Pelta bookshop had a good selection of books the last time I was there. They also carry models as well. Plus they have a deal with Modeltrans' Polish distributor:

WCM is owned by Mirage. I've never been but they have a good selection of their own kits on their webpage:

At the main train station there is a little kiosk; it's not even a shop. You order stuff through a window, but they have a big selection of hard-to-find stuff:

I haven't been model shopping in Warsaw for years. I forgot there are so many shops there. Have a good time and don't spend too much money.
Pozdrawiam,
Jeff

EDIT: If you are coming for Easter, I would check to see when the shops are open. A lot of stores close early on Good Friday and many stay closed on Saturday so people can get ready for the next day. Easter Monday is also an official holiday here so everything will be closed.

Doug,

I do business with Jadar from time to time. I looked on google maps and the store is across from some park. I hope you're able to visit them, as I'd be interested to read your thoughts on the store and the general operation.

Thanks,

George

I appreciate all the tips. Good advice.

Jeff, I'll be in Poznan until Easter, and then Warszawa the following week. Hopefully my next trip over I'll be able to visit Krakow, and then head south and visit Milan in Prague!

Watch out for the week after Easter because 1 May and 3 May are both holidays. Shops will be open between Easter and May Day, but you might find one or two businesses that shut down for the whole week. The school where I work is going to be closed from the Thursday before Easter until 4 or 5 May! I love being a teacher!
I visited Poznan two years ago. All my Polish friends thought my wife and I were kind of crazy for going on a holiday to Poznan since it's really only famous for its trade fairs. But it's a great city. The city museum is worth seeing but I think you need reservations for the laser/multimedia show. I didn't go to any model stores but I know there are a couple of good ones. Was in Krakow for Valentine's weekend. Great time especially off-season. Not so crowded.
Have a good time and a safe flight.
