I have a DML 37mm Flak 37 and would like to put it on the back of my Italeri SWS. I have seen pictures of the armoured SWS carrying these guns but thus far a Google search has not revealed any pictures of an unarmoured version (like mine) of the SWS carrying this gun. Any chance anyone has come across a picture of this configuration?

Hello Dudley,

The best source for information on the sWS can be found here:

http://www.pietvanhees.nl/sws/

There a many pictures also including one of a sWS combined with the Flak 37. However, this is the
armored chassis. To my knowledge, this is the only existing picture of that combination.

Until now, no picture is known, regarding the regular sWS with the Flak 37.

Best wishes
Gert

Ok, thanks, so I guess than unless photographic evidence shows otherwise, the Flak 37 would be too early a gun to be found on such a late war vehicle.

On late war vehicles including the SWS. I agree the FlaK 37 is a pretty old gun but even that appears on some late production armored Sd.Kfz. 7s. It is not implausible to think that one could be field mounted on an available tracked chasiss.

Hello David,

As mentioned in my reply above, there is at least one picture existing, proving the combination of an armored sWS with the Flak 37.
Source can be found in the link I have mentioned. It is a wreck of an sWS.

This is the photo the Gert is referring to. There's no reason whatsoever that a Flak 37, or even a Flak 36, would have been mounted on this vehicle. The way in which it was mounted would have been essentially the same.

The photo of the armored SWS wreck with the gun is not new. I've not seen any other SWS armored or unarmored with one. But, it is certainly possible and would not be unusual.
