Hi everyone,

The Conqueror Mk2 is now over 90% built. The main item left to go is the turret basket which I intend to build in metal, as practice for the many other turret baskets required on other models.

Very clean and tidy build!

I have this kit in my stash along with a bunch of aftermarket PE. I was going to start it next. I have heard it has some accuracy issues but have not really looked into it in detail. Just wondering your opinion, and if you have encountered any significant stumbling blocks during the build?

I refer you to Chris Meddings brilliant review of the kit for questions around accuracy.

https://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/ ... r3555.html

I have chosen to ignore some of the inaccuracies and as a basic statement the kit goes together with no real traps. If you want the tank to really be a Mk2 however, at the very least you need to make the changes to the engine deck and the drivers position. When it came to the turret, I feel you are better of using the Amusing Hobbies turret and modifying the fume extractor of the gun barrel. I took this path because I wanted to build the Carnarvon and could therefore avoid the correct work required on the Dragon turret. My Conqueror is essentially a combination of the Dragon hull and Amusing Hobbies turret, tracks and some hull details.

Looking forward to see your efforts with the PE sets that will definitely give the kit a needed lift.

Regards
Ian

love to be able to answer your question but I was in a crib during their twilight years. I have been told however that "The Yellow Submarine" was the best song to settle me down too. Maybe some other reader of this site could answer your question?

That nice part of the movie was on YouTube as a clip time ago, sadly now removed...

Great job. It's looking stunning.
Just as an aside if you are interested, there is a similar build going on on the Britmodeller site. Here's the link;
