Is the Alvis Scorpion currently serving anywhere? believe the Scimitar is, but what about the Scorpion?
Cheers,

Most of the major Scorpion users withdrew them from service in the mid 1990's due to toxicity issues associated with the 76mm gun.

We (RAF Regiment) gave up the last of ours in '95 in Cyprus and one was kept as a Gate Guardian and was moved back to the UK.

A number of Scorpions were converted with a Fox turret to become Sabres, ex RAF Regt vehicles had an AT registration ie 49AT27.

Hello Shane,

The Scorpion was withdrawn from UK service, although a few VISMOD vehicles remained in service in BATUS. The majority of the Scorpions lost the turret and gained the turret from the Fox armoured car to become Sabre.

I hope this helps

Hi Ossie,

Happy Christmas to you.

Yes the Irish defence forces are still using them,
they have upgraded them with new engine and new tracks (see picture)
I think the track is of German origin.

Anthony
