Hi

Has anyone blocked the following IP address from ML: 203.97.74.128
I had an e-mail from Dave Foster who was complaining that he couldn't access ML. His IP address is: 203.97.74.31

I checked with Nikolai and he didn't remember blocking Dave. We thought that perhaps he had been caught up in 203.97.74.128's block. Anyway, I have unblocked this IP address for now to see if it will allow Dave to re-enter. Please let me know if any of you blocked Dave for a reason.

Many thanks

IP address masks

6:13 PM - May 04, 2005 #2

Ruth,

IP address 203.97.74.31 belongs to 203.97.74.0 block, provided you apply the adequate IP "mask" like 255.255.255.0 or 255.255.255.128 or 255.255.255.192 or 255.255.255.224.

It will never belong to IP block 203.97.74.128, except if you use the whole class C block, which means a mask of 255.255.255.0.

Thanks Xavier!

I think Dave's problem was actually with Network 54 so I referred him to them. Hopefully they'll be able to sort him out.

Best wishes

Ruth
