AMPS 2018 Show on-line pre-registration is now open!

Well, the holidays are in the rear view mirror and we are now full speed ahead to the AMPS 2018 Show in Dayton, Ohio, May 3-5, 2018. With just over 100 days before the show, anticipation and excitement are building for the biggest and greatest North American armor modeling convention under one roof for 2018. As we modelers are slipping away, staying up late at night and hunkering down to work on projects in our man-caves and bunkers, take the opportunity to pre-register your entries on-line for the show on the AMPS homepage (amps-armor.org) and avoid that rushed feeling you get when you're quickly filling out model entry forms at the registration table followed by the nagging feeling you get after dropping the forms off that you forgot to list a few things on your model entry forms as you stroll through the vendors area.

To pre-register on-line, simply go to the AMPS homepage (amps-armor.org), click the link "Pre-registration is now open" in the lower left hand side and this will bring you to the Pre-registration page where you can begin the process. Pre-registration is a great way to take your time to record all your work on the model registration forms, submit them on-line as you pay show entry fees, then skip the long registration lines at the show and go straight to the vendors, get to that seminar you want to attend or link up with some old friends.

While you are building, finishing up some builds or are still at the planning stage of what you are going to bring, be aware this year's show has several special award besides the 2018 show theme. Take a look:

Best Brummbar Award info

January 22nd, 2018, 6:18 pm #2

Gentleman and Ladies,

New for this year at the AMPS International Show in Dayton, Ohio, will be an award for the Best Brummbar (WWII German Strumpanzer). I am sponsoring the award in memory of Rich Sullivan of R&J Enterprises. Rich passed away of liver cancer this past September. Rich's favorite tank was the German Brummbar. Rich was known to many in our hobby as the owner of a web store catering to 1/35 armor models and aftermarket items. Over the years Rich traveled to many model show, IPMS, AMPS, World Expo and the old AMM,so many of you may have met him. Rich was one of the first recipients of the AMPS award for Best Product, "Zimmer-it-rite" a modeling putty.

The award is quite impressive and is done on a black acrylic (stand alone) plaque with silver script. The award is open to all Brummbar entries that make it to the show. I hope to see a number of nice models competing for this award.

Thanks,
Mark

Hey Mark, is there going to be a brummbar award every year, at the AMPS nationals, or just this year?

It would be nice if there was a Rich Sullivan award every year.......

I want to make this a continuing award. I, too, think it would be a nice tribute.

I had no idea. I am truly sorry to hear of Rich's passing. It's been a few years since we'd spoken, so I didn't know he was ill. Rich was a good guy who loved to talk "shop" about the hobby. He'll be missed. Please pass along my condolences to Joy if you're still in touch.
