Hello all

Just recently joined Missing-Lynx and thought I'd post my present project. I've been out of the military modelling now for nearly 20 years, with attempts during this time that failed due to various things like career, family etc.....but finally got back to the bench this year.....😀

The AFV Club - Leichte Zugkraftwagen 3t -Sd.Kfz.11. I usually stick to Tamiya for their moulding quality and build ease. AFV has so far only had some minor issue's on fit and accuracy of moulding to instruction sheet - but nothing you can't get round or overcome. A little over engineered here and there also. From the outset I have been toying with two versions.

1 - Ad-Hoc 40cm Wurfrahmen rocket equipped and carried in the rear decking.

or

2 - The more common 20mm Flak 38 installed on the rear.

The jury is still out. Although I just received the Dragon 6288 20mm Flak 38 today...strong contender..😬 ......I'm possibly going to take it in the direction of the SS Wiking Division as regards markings and camo', possibly Kampfgruppe Muhlenkamp around July '44 in Eastern Poland.

Well, here is the progress so far. Any comments welcome.

Looks nice. I'd go for the improv rocketlauncher.

Redcoat,

Could you please use the tutorial to add your real name?

Thanks,

Tom

Thanks Marc, appreciate you taking a look. I have in fact gone for the Dragon 20mm and decided to scratch build a complete new rear deck with wood decking in American Bass wood. I finished the build last night and primed it ready for the repaint of the chassis. Unfortunately I also have to repaint the cab roof, I damaged it by accident, so that's on the repaint list too....😬. This is prior to completion last night. I have yet to take a shot of the final detailed rear. maybe over the weekend.

Hi Ruairi.

Thanks, it's a new concept to me since I last did modelling 20 years ago. Getting more practice. I have to say though, when planning my next kit and plan to have IT camouflaged, I'll do less and leave it in the light highlight rather than the multi shaded modulation. I think it's most effective on singular coloured AFV's.

Cheers

Morning all

Got some time in last night and finished the rear scratch deck and repaired the roof with a fill and re-spray. Once the isolation layer is on I should get the decals, wash and dust done today.

I was hoping to do Kampfgruppe Muhlenkamp, but the decal set that I picked up; all the division insignia are too large for the areas allocated on this vehicle. So it might have to be a WH Panzer Division or Grenadier. I'll see how the day goes and if I can search out smaller ones in my archive.

Hope you like progress so far.
